I am trying to get my 890 pro to work the way i want it to, but the software they provide doesn't offer me the customization and control that i need. I used to have a philips pronto TSU3000, but my family didn't like not having hard buttons, which is why i switched to the harmony. I was able to get everything working nicely with the pronto, but i can't with the harmony

I was wondering if there is a way that i could use a 3rd party software to program the remote, or a way that i can hack the remote enough that i can get it to work.

thanks for any help you can offer.

No.

What are you having problems with? It might be a simple fix.

Call Harmony and have the guy on the phone do it for you.
3rd party software hacks discussion is pretty forbidden on most sites plus there are not any I know of considering the 2 way internet connection needed to program them.

You did not detail a single issue. You sound like you need to return the Harmony and get one of the new Philips remotes.

sorry for being so vague...

I originally was using a philips pronto tsu-3000 (B&W), and it was working pretty well. I had no real problems, but the rest of my family kept having problems with it.

I then got the harmony 890 pro, since they said that having hard buttons would make things easier.

The problem that i keep running into is that the harmony just doesn't offer me enough customization options and advanced programming features. I can't get it to work with my x10 system (not really a big deal), nor with the multi-zone features of my receiver.

I was thinking of switcing back to a pronto or my old one, but i wish there was one with more hard buttons.

I liked how on the logitech i didn't have to go through sub menus to switch between numbers, play controls, and other buttons.

now i know that i could just use smaller buttons, but then it is too hard to operate for other people. the most i can really fit is a full keypad on the screen, and then links to the other pages.

also, i have a rotel receiver, rsx-1066 i think, and i was looking on their site, it said something about serial control. i have the serial cable for it. would this allow 2 way communication between the new pronto like the 9400 and the rotel?

Any suggestions on how i can fix this issue (different remote, different style, suck it up)

thanks
