Well this is a first for me seeing ice skating in HD. What a pleasure compared to the usual sd.

You ever watch those Milwaukee's Best Light ads where some guy does something "unmanly" (like name a speedboat "Honeybuns" in honor of his wife or rivetingly watch some soap opera), then a big can of beer falls on top of him? I wonder if that'll happen here.

Cute women skating in costumes that amount to fancy underwear....nothing to see here...move along...move along. :)

It seems that NBC is more interested in "HD" figure skating than ABC/ESPN. Sunday NBC had a figure skating show in "HD' and ESPN had a figure skating competition in "SD".

Any competition with women wearing skimpy outfits in HD is an advancement of the technology. I'm certain that's what NHK had in mind.

That explains the HD volleyball.

Once again ESPN had hours of Figure Skating in "SD" (Saturday, January 5th 2008) all of it as delayed broadcasts from Europe. One would think that they could record it in "HD" or at least widescreen "SD" and fly the tapes back to the US. No one watching Figure Skating needs a other sports game score read-out on the bottom of the screen.

But it is in HD, something ESPN/ABC seem to have trouble doing.
