Does anyone know if you can replace the anti glare coating? I have a Pioneer Elite. A bug must have splat on my screen and probably left a very acidic mark. As I wiped it clean, it took out a huge chuck of coating.
I almost want to remove the entire coating instead of replacing it.
You cannot replace the coating. You will need to replace the PDP glass.

Thanks. I would image it would be tough to replace the anti glare coating without a dust free environment.
Any suggestions on how to remove the coating? I've read Goof Off might be an option. But, I'm not sure if it will stain the glass or bezel. Another option is to soak the screen with a wet cloth for 12 hours. This sounds dangerous.
Seeing that I was able to easily wipe off the coating the first time around with merely screen cleaner, I might do the same on the rest of the screen, but with Goof Off.
The anti-glare coating is integrated into the color filter. You do NOT want to remove the color filter.

Great, that's not good news. It's either that or deal with a smudge on the screen. It's noticeable on dark scenes.
I actually don't notice a difference in color, but a slight difference in brightness. I wonder if the "first layer color filter" is just a marketing ploy since the glare coating does make the screen a little darker.
