I have a DirecTV HR20 (set up for RF) and other equipment in a closet working via IR blasters. I'm tired of juggling remotes.

No, and never will.

Can you be more specific? Why?

None of the URC units will be able to control the direct TV box directly via RF, you could use RF from a MX-950 to transmit commands via RF to a MSC-400 which could control the direct tv box via IR. If the direct TV box has serial control, you could also control it via rs-232 from the MSC-400

or judging by the fact that you dont have ANY universal remotes, going to a 950 is a little extreme..

you can easily get the job done w/ a MX-350 and try you luck w/ a mrf-250 base or spend a little more and get the 260 base station (narrow band) which will help in most cases as i've found the 250's to be junk in most cases, thats why we use the 350's(base station) when we can..

but wait, you have blasters? do you have a repeater system? if so, you can get just the mx350 and make sure your blaster is availbe to you sat box..

or an mx600 that comes w/ a base station...

I have a Niles repeater system in that closet. I just don't have the DirecTV box in the loop as I have it running RF. I might as well add it to the mix and go IR across the board.

As to why you can't have RF control of your DirecTv box with a universal remote: as RF is governed by the FCC, a license is required for each frequency. The cost and certification issues currently make an RF universal remote (that can directly control RF equipment) economically unfeasible.

Thanks Mike.
