$7500 retail not bad.

Here is a video showing the projector calibration with several VW50s. Must see, this is really very cool. Looks like the alingment and placement of the projectors overlap is not very critical.

joeycalda 10-30-07, 01:39 AM Now that's awesome and the ultimate gaimg display. I wonder how movies would look?
and all you have to do is push one button WOW!!
Jim Burns 10-30-07, 08:54 AM I used to set up Esprit (Ampro) arrays (three delta configured crt projectors) for Hughes Helicopter and IITR (train) simulators.
Unfortunately no one ever let me play in the simulator, I don’t think the helicopter one would have turned out well if I did try it.
I wonder if they had to turn off the DI in the Pearls? Since each projector only gets part of the picture then the APL could vary per projector. So each unit could end up doing different things with their DI which could result in some weird visual effects.

alan halvorson 10-30-07, 05:25 PM For those not needing a curved screen but who want a much larger picture via blending, there's the TVONE C2-260 PC card. This is pro product that featues a scaler with a blending option, plus other stuff like keying. The card uses the PC only as a power supply. Input is RGB or component, or, for the perverse, composite or s-video. It is intented to accept output from a graphics card but any RGB source will work. It is not HDCP compliant so you will have to take of that externally. The nice thing is that it costs a mere $999, but can be found for ~$700.
Think of it! Stuff as many C2-260's in a PC as it can hold, or use multiple PC's, and you can have as large a picture as you want. The clever can buy or build a 12-volt power supply and be done with PC's altogether. It doesn't have the automatic configuation system that the Mersive does, but, hey, it doesn't cost $7500 either.
According to rumor, TVONE will be bringing out a standalone blending box. I have no idea what this will be capable of, other than blending.
donaldk 10-30-07, 05:40 PM You'll need two of these for a one-way blend, so for a 4 projector set-up you'll need 4 cards, so that would be about the limit unless you can figure a way to get a server client system running with a single pc running four cards.
TVOne released their European pricelist, a few weeks later I received an email from their Dutch distributor, with higher pricing. 'Recently TVOne provided you with the latest pricelist, however this is from the UK, unfortunately transportcosts are rather high, so here's our pricelist', yeah right! What's the point for a manufacturer publishing listprices, if they aren't listprices anymore... Especially since these prices are excluding tax, as they are for non-consumer products, so variance in VAT rates across Europe isn't an argument. A marketing goof-up, Debbie.
Guess this would qualify as today's daily grumpy old man post;-).

But, you see, you can use as many PC's as you have available. They don't need to be networked. And you'll need an RGB distribution amplifier. The number of projectors that can be blended with the C2-260 is unlimited.

Well, 4 of these at 1100 Euro a pop, plus a pc, plus cabling, wouldn't be that much cheaper than 7500 USD.
Cheapest way is software: http://www.screenav.de/avc_homepage/global/i_first.htm
ScreenAV professional € 550,00, 654,50 (including Mehrwertsteuer). Up to three monitors with the matrox tri-head. For more you'll need the server version, or perhaps you can use multiple graphic cards in one pc, as a non-standard feature(?), however haven't delved into the extensive online documentation, yet.
donaldk 10-30-07, 06:01 PM If you are looking to display external sources (external to the pc) then yes use multiple pc's, and distribute analog video to the various pc's. A pc is a nicer player though for non-live material. However, I am not sure how you are going to do a four channel split when using two or four pc's each holding one or two c2-260s.
