I just purchased a Canon HG 10 camcorder. According to all the information I read about this camcorder on Canon's website prior to purchasing it, I was led to believe that it recorded 1080 X 1920 video.
I currently have this camcorder set to the highest resolution and the video is only 1080 X 1440 (75% of the advertised resolution). The specs on Canons website are as follows:
Effective Pixels: Movies (HDD): Approx 2.07 Megapixels (1920 x 1080); Still Images (Card): 4:3 mode: Approx 2.76 Megapixels (1920 x 1440); 16:9 mode: 2.07 Megapixels (1920 x 1080)
I believe that they are misrepresenting this camera. Perhaps engineering is not communicating with marketing.
As much as I hate lawyers, I believe Canon has some potential class action liability here.
If you purchased this camera and can get 1080 X 1920 video files from it, please let me know how. If not, call Robert x2411 at 1-800-828-4040. He is currently researching this issue for me.
Thanks.
