Just came back from Wal-Mart and spotted a single Jack Ryan collection on HD DVD for those interested in it even with the lack of extras. May be a while before we see it. The price was $58.xx (can't remember the change).

View Full Version : Jack Ryan Collection at Wal-mart for $58.xx for those interested GizmoDVD 10-29-07, 05:51 PM Just came back from Wal-Mart and spotted a single Jack Ryan collection on HD DVD for those interested in it even with the lack of extras. May be a while before we see it. Took it up to the register and it said "unable to sell". GizmoDVD 10-29-07, 06:04 PM Ahh...gotcha. I have no interest in it so I thought it might be of help to some. dalamchops 10-29-07, 06:11 PM my walmart had them for $47, but it's a nation wide recall, therefore 0 walmart are allowed to sell this. rgathright 10-29-07, 07:43 PM Why?? sivartk 10-29-07, 07:48 PM did you give them the definition of recall when they wouldn't sell it? I saw a single copy at my store, but didn't try to buy it. homerx 10-29-07, 07:58 PM the specs and extras on the cover are listed incorectly but the movie itself is fine. so id assume they will just redo the inserts and send them back out to retail stores ss9001 10-29-07, 08:22 PM I went to 3 Walmarts in my area in metro-Atlanta and not only did they not have Jack Ryan, they really didnt have much BD or HD-DVD's at all. Only a few titles. The endcaps in all 3 stores mostly had bare stickers. Further, in desperation and against my better judgment (I don't like the company and don't shop there), I had ordered a copy from walmart.com over a week ago. I was emailed that it shipped but they provided a invalid tracking number. Their customer service dept does not have the ability to determine the location an online item is shipped from and could not track my order since the tracking number they provided was invalid. Refund issued today and I bought a copy off the 'bay. Walmart lived down to my expectations. :p Not impressed. And I won't bother with them again. lemming75 10-29-07, 10:01 PM Got denied last night, as well. And let me tell you, the "Do Not Sell" alarm is about as annoying as the "You've Activated the Wal-mart Security System." People literally turned their heads toward the register, just to see what all the comotion was about. alkrio 10-30-07, 05:25 AM Quick question, does anyone know why I can't even find the pre-order for the JRC on amazon?... :( Ph8te 10-30-07, 05:31 AM Quick question, does anyone know why I can't even find the pre-order for the JRC on amazon?... :( They havent announced a re-release date of it yet. Kable 11-01-07, 09:31 AM I was trying to get to the bottom of this. I've seen it at two local walmarts but when my wife tried to buy it for my b-day yesterday it wouldn't ring up like some have said. They said it was recalled....I wasn't sure of the release date but it still makes no sense for a movie to sit on the shelves for two weeks with no ability to purchase it. mike171979 11-02-07, 01:36 AM My Walmart also would not let me buy it. I was thissssssss close to doing this. 1)Pick up the Jack Ryan Collection on SD DVD and HD DVD. 2)Walk over to the Self Check out line 3)Scan the SD DVD version 4)Put the HD DVD version in my bag, and put the SD DVD version behind the gum and stuff. 5)Walk out with the HD DVD version, and If I happened to get my bag checked, which I doubt, the person would look at my receipt and gladly wave me through. But then I thought that would be too close to stealing for me to feel comfortable with, so I didn't do it. steven975 11-02-07, 02:03 AM I found one at my Wal-mart, too. I tried a few times, but I walked out of the store with it. They said it must not have been released yet, but I showed him the DVD version and they bought my line of "it must be some kind of glitch". I got them to ring up a miscellaneous item for $59.99 with "jackryan HD" as the description and AWAY WE GO!! It was well worth the effort as these movies look way better than the non-anamorphic DVDs I have. |
