View Full Version : CANNOT Play This Content: C667000A ~~ Hot Fuzz Doesn't Work
So I went format neutral with some trepidation after being a die-hard Blu-ray supporter for about a year.
The first movie I watched was Transformers HD DVD and the disk worked great!! Was surprised and impressed with the picture quality.
So I decide to watch Hot Fuzz next.
I put the movie in and the Universal logo pops up looking great in high-def.
Then it suddenly stops and I get the error message:
Cannot Play This Content: C667000A
What the heck does this mean? I have restarted and powered off and tried to make this disk play like 5 different times and it just freezes up and gives me that error message.
I have about 200 Blu-rays and 20 HD DVDs, and have never had a problem like this on a Blu-ray.
My setup is:
Xbox 360 ELITE with HDMI
360 add-on
I have already updated the firmware to the latest possible editions, and Transformers works great.
I am starting to regret going format neutral right now. :(
So what is the trick to make Hot Fuzz play? Is this what happens when you have to boil the disk?
So far I have only tried Transformers and Hot Fuzz (50% working rate), but I will open some of the other ones tomorrow and try them.

Thank you for the speedy response.
I am having trouble finding the "maintenance" tab.
the main tabs I have are: "marketplace, xboxlive, games, media, system"
I thought it may be under the system tab, but under "system" I still cannot find maintenance either.

My bad it's late and I must be tired, I thought you had a Toshiba player lol. Anyway I don't have a xBox but I have heard it helps to flush the cache on the xBox (I think that's right). Someone who has the xBox will need to point out how to do that. :) Also I would try simply cleaning the disc (never hurts to try that).

I don't think he realized you're using the Xbox 360 add-on. I believe the advice he gave you was for the stand-alone Toshiba players. I have Hot Fuzz on HD DVD and have the Xbox 360 add-on. The disc plays through all the way just fine. I hate to say this, but maybe try boiling your disc. You never know, it could help. If it doesn't, swap it for another disc. Hot Fuzz is the best looking HD DVD I have seen yet, you NEED to experience it in HD.
well I am happy to report that after powering everything down again, removing all of the power cables from the 360 and the add-on, waiting about 5 mins, then powering back up and running initial setup over again, it is now playing.
hopefully this will just be a one time thing, I bought like 20 HD DVDs and 3 HD DVD box sets when going format neutral. :)

Wowzer when you go format neutral you don't mess around. :D

I was just going to recommend you do that. I went through some problems when I played Hot Fuzz with the add-on. It would freeze the whole system up, or it would play for a minute, then the error message would pop up, until I unplugged everything for 5 minutes. I don't know if it happens on subsequent viewings, as I have an A2 now.

haha well I'm a huge film buff and have been holding out hoping that Blu-ray would win, but it looks like the war will go on through at least Dec. 31 2008, so I bought some of the Universal and Paramount titles that were missing from my collection.
About 15mins into Hot Fuzz, and got up to type this:
the PQ is amazing as good as anything on Blu-ray. :)
However something strange about the audio, the audio on Hot Fuzz is much clearer and louder than Transformers, in fact Hot Fuzz has tons more bass than Transformers. Really strange.
I remember Transformers at the IMAX had ground pounding bass, but the soundtrack on my HD DVD sounds really flat.
I just said to myself, "oh well I guess its just DD, not lossless", but honestly its more than that because the Hot Fuzz DD+ soundtrack is amazing and the sub shakes my floor.
It almost seems they didn't do a very good job at all mixing the audio for Transformers, it sounds really flat compared to Hot Fuzz.
laserguns 10-30-07, 03:19 AM mine was doing this as well, here's what i did to fix it.
first. delete all cookies/data from the hd-dvd add-on.
restart the system
connect to xbox live (sign on)
then start the movie.
it should update and play.
Robert D 10-30-07, 03:20 AM Yeah some here say the LFE on Tranformers is borked but I sure didn't notice that going from the Toshiba XA2 player to my Denon 2807 (via hdmi) to a MartinLogan 200 watt sub. The LFE was so booming it drove my cats from the room. :)
Hmm.... have you hit the "display" button on the remote, and switch the audio option to DTS yet?

This exact error is described on my blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/andypennell/archive/2007/10/25/xbox-360-hd-dvd-drive-movie-specific-known-issues.aspx).
