With the new quotes coming out of Warner, there seems a real possibility that they might be pulling their support for HD-DVD. Obviously what Warner are going to do is up for heated debate, and that debate is occuring on many threads, so if we could keep that issue off this thread and focus on the question in point then I'd be grateful.
So hypothetically then, if Warner do drop HD-DVD, can HD-DVD survive?

I don't see any indication of Warner going BD only, just a bunch of people that misread, “We can definitely talk Blu-ray,” he said. “We are committed to the format.” this is the comment that got BD fans up in a frenzy in an article posted over in the BR forums. That comment came from David Berman director of the HTSA not warner.. Other than them stating good sales numbers for BR I see no indication that they've chosen BR.

Hi Patrick,
I did say that I was trying to avoid the debate about whether this would happen or not (see my OP). Furthermore, I've deliberately used the word "hypothetically" to underline this.
For what its worth, you're right that there was some ambiguaty as to whether the key quote came from Silverberg of Warner or Berman of HTSA. However, if you search around the web you'll find that someone has contacted HMM and gotten confirmation that the quote was indeed from Warner. I agree that it was badly written and could have come from either when first read.
