Hey guys, i live in texas and my Dad lives in Utah.

well he purchased a harmony 550 remote and i had to help him set it up over the phone. i have never used one of these remotes, well we got it set up and works except for one thing, the volume control for his A/V receiver.

to change volume he has to go to the A/V receiver mode on the remote to adjust volume/mute.

isn't their a way to make the volume and mute buttons always control the a/v receiver and not the tv???

btw he has the following setup
JVC tv
Sony strk700(??) a/v receiver
Sony DVD player
Panasonic VHS player
Motorola cable box..

any help would be great

The program usually offers this as an option during the interview/setup process, but it can be done afterward as well:

- Click on the "Activity" tab.
- Slect "Customize buttons" for the activity in question.
- For "Volume up", "Volume down", and "Mute", select the Sony Receiver and specify the appropriate button commands.
- Update the remote, & all should work.

Your welcome!

I have a 550 myself. One nice feature that not all the Harmony line has is the "Sound" and "Picture" buttons, which add (you guessed it - sound & picture) functionality to the other buttons without exiting the current activity.
