Sure, you can grab 8 or 9 players (how ever many the max will be) for a ranked game, but that'll be it. If you want a whole room full of AVS players, it will have to be a custom game where you don't level up.

I used to play in a RTCW clan. We had many matches in CAL and TWL leagues. Nothing beats competitive gaming...such a great rush.

I just ordered mine, I played in the beta, and would like to join in. I am not an exceptional player, but I have my moments. My kills were above my deaths, and I usually placed in the top 3. Gamer tag is zActionJacksonz

Having played this for a few hours, it really wont be fun/fair until everyone has the powerups that you get from being promoted.

I checked on my pre-order today from CC and it is back orderd, out of stock. I had to cancel and order from WM, so I will have to wait 'till next week to join in.

How quick do level up? On the beta the cap was 16 and I reached it on the second day of play. I heard rumor that it will be harder to level up on the full version.

well i find it pretty easy to level up, i'm at level 16 in 3 hours of play.

Don't hate yourself too much. I played in the beta and I was getting nailed left and right last night. The unlocked weapons DEFINITELY make a difference. Also, I have no idea how, but I was playing against a few guys last night that were already at levels in the 40's! One guy was a 46 and a two-star general. Unbelievable!!

I haven't had this much fun in an MP game since Gears first came out.

I made to level 10 after about 2 hours. The great thing about this game is, that, outside of the perks, you can still hold your own without leveling up all the way.

MP5 + red dot sight is a hell of weapon.

Also, we didn't have an AVS room or anything going last night. Everyone was scattered. I got one or two invites from HolyWater and someone else, but that was it.

I was mostly jumping into games that said "Joinable" on my friends list. I played one or two rounds in an AGE room (18 players, private match) and that got shut down.

DBK: if you want to integrate the two lists and maintain the multiplayer thread, that's fine...

I leveled up to 17 last night, can't believe my local Gamestop made us wait until 12PM to pick up the darn thing. Wish I had my digital camera with me cause the line was out the door. Put in a good 2 hours on MP and I had to put it down because of eye strain. Odd thing is, I play better on my 19" LCD monitor than my 52" DLP.
And perhaps it's just me but does anyone feel guilty when you're on a mean killing streak? :(

I voted to skip that map, and "bog", not a fan of that one either. can never find anyone, and when I do they get me with one shot, while I unload on them, and they remain alive.

I have to learn more about the customs/perks. the manual has what? 5 pages and absolutely no info!

The popular spot on that map seems to be under the bridge on the far side of the map. Just sit there with red dot sights and you can pick off the other team pretty good.

This is my first post here and I have a pretty specific question about Call of Duty 4 on an LCD TV (Sony Bravia 46XBR4).

For the most part, the game looks great, but I do notice a slight blurring on background textures from time to time while panning the "camera" around. Anyway, last night I got to the "Death From Above" level and when panning the view around, the motion blur/smearing was extreme. Has anyone else noticed this? I know this can be an issue on LCD's, but this went far beyond anything I was expecting in terms of how bad it was.

Any advice, etc. would be appreciated.

You can still level up if you get a party together and go hunting for public matches though.. correct?
I've never played the COD series much, so I'm not entirely sure how all this works.

Also, how do you START a ranked match.. w/ you as the host.. is that possible? I know someone has to be hosting the matches I play in, I just don't see the option to host my own except for a custom room.

Correct. You can start a party and get 9 players, I think its 9, and then all of you can go join a public/ranked match.

Weee.. I love getting my ass handed to me by some 18th level guy from across the map :rolleyes: Na it's all good.. Just learning the new maps are gonna make it interesting. One thing though, can we choose a map like in COD3? I hate Bog although the last session on it I got 7 kills and 3 deaths so not too bad but still not my fave.

Played on Shipment today. that lvl is just crazy. at least vacant gives you room and the boat is just that. Shipment is just a box with containers and you can spawn right back where you died. great board for martyrdome.

Does anyone have certain weapons that you like on certain levels? On the beta I would use the sniper on overgrown, shotgun on the level that had a lot of tight hallways, and machine gun or assault rifle for the city.

Tried to play the beta a couple times with DBK and some others but it seemed like we always had some weird stuff happen with connections, etc. Hopefully we can just chalk that up to the fact it was a beta since everything seems to be rolling now. Although my ability to host is still suspect.... :confused:

Yeah I was in a game the other day and noone was talking so some guy just started playing techno thru his headset.. I hate techno.

I've been playing for the past couple of nights. I noticed that the number of players (shown at the bottom of the screen) in that particular game type is always zero.

I have yet to have any issues at all with getting into a match. I've never had to wait more that 1 minute to get a game. I am getting into the matches the same way that you are.

Is anybody else seeing long delays in getting into matches? Is anybody not seeing any delays at all, like I am?

Once it finds a game I have no problem getting in, but before that point it just keeps switching between "Searching for compatible matches..." and "Checking game quality" (or words to that effect) for a very long time. For the number of players online it's been showing "-1" which I find very hard to believe ;).

^^^I read at Charlie Oscar Delta that the "-1" thing is just a glitch and IW is working to fix it. I had no trouble getting into games last night, but once in there a lot of them were so laggy that playing really stunk.

I don't now, mate, I played a couple of matches this afternoon and my rank jumped up to 6 (I know, I know, it's rocketing up). I even had a match or two with a + kill/death ratio. Of course, I'll never pull myself out of the hole I've already dug in ratios.

I'll just be a higher ranked sucky player.

I definitely already like COD 4 MP much more than Halo MP.

Last night, the final three games that I played in, I had horrific lag (couldn't even move out of spawn..screen would slow down and then speed up).

I even died 39 times on one map. Pretty much all my kills were martyrdom.

Hope I don't have any issues tonight ..

lag was pretty bad in team deathmatch earlier...free for all has been ok though.

played some Oldcore today. that was crazy trying to get weapons and perks. not knowing where people are until you or someone got a uav going. The colored names dont even come up in time as you sweeping areas or sprinting.

came across the double tap perk. WOW, that's some serious action there. cant wait 'til I get it to use.

double tap + ak47u (the little sub-machine) = crazy fast fire rate... one of my fav setups, add extra ammo perk and you're set





but Monday is Veterans Day, with no work, I'll be on all day and looking for some good games. hope many of you have Monday off as well.

sounds like you need some team hardcore! some deathmatch based, BUT score is figured with kill/death ratio, so it's a lot more tactical (most everyone trying to sneak/NOT die, pretty fun for deathmatch) also bomb based games, etc.

Is anybody else seeing long delays in getting into matches? Is anybody not seeing any delays at all, like I am?

If you are having trouble getting into a game, start your own party and send out invites. I'd like to think that we could get 3 or 4 AVS parties going, given the size of this group.

Also, once everybody has leveled up to a certain point (20, 30, 40, 50..whatever), we could dabble in some private matches.

Add me... I am officially hooked in bad. At first I just passed it off as a very pretty run and gunner but I was really surprised at the care that went into the multiplayer. Everything just plays well and it is VERY rare that I feel I am being cheated by the game. I don't feel that any one type or class has huge advantages... everything just feels right but more then right it's all just A LOT of fun. The maps are excellent as well, I really hope we get expansion maps and continued rank ups and perks... This could really be built into a community.

This FPS is fantastic and has replaced Rainbow 6 Vegas as my favorite multiplayer FPS on the 360. Believe the hyperbole...

Who usually starts the parties? I saw many of you online last night but I did not want to bother anyone since everyone was already in a party or already playing in a game. Since there is a big list maybe we should designate some party leaders for certain nights etc.....

I pretty much play every game but my favs are Search and Destroy, Domination and Free for all....I prefer to play some tactical games but usually warm up with some run and gun....

Or you can wait till they show up on your friends list w/ the little arrow next to their name and join the match w/out an invite.

I spend most of the game exactly as my GT says :) though I've managed to get to LVL31 through time at the wheel rather than any real skills. This game rocks on a projector!
