so, i've been having some weird xbox live issues with my dgl-4300 router. Here is my current xbox live set up:

xbox 360 wireless adapter
firmware: 1.8
gamerfuel: on
dynamic fragmentation: off
automatic classification: on
automatic upload speed detection: on
game rule for xbox live: on
allow ping requests: on

The weird situation I am talking about is that I will log onto a multiplayer game on Rainbow six Vegas and I will have 3 green dots (the best you can get!). So, I'm playing a game, and lag is nearly non existent... however, I will occasionally get a little 'hiccup' -- for example, i'm walking straight, and then all of a sudden i will teleport somewhere i was at previously... and then the game will stop hiccuping.

I know that firmware 1.8 isn't xbox live certified, but I've seen people using this router before with this specific firmware and saying that it works well.

anybody use this router with f/w 1.8? if so, any help to get rid of my 'hiccups'?

DGL-4300 is the best router I've ever used (I've got a closet full of linksys and netgear current gen routers)

With that said, I had all kinds of problems with 1.8. I've found 1.7 to be my favorite with 1.6 a close 2nd. But 1.8 gave me constant disconnects, particularly when streaming media.

Try downgrading to 1.7, make sure you keep dynamic fragmentation disabled. If you're still having problems, disable the upload speed detection and you should be golden.

Best of luck.

I basically have your settings minus the xblox live rule on. All works fine with me, no problem in RB6 at all.

Firmware: 1.8

stangs55: i tried 1.7 before, but I was having even worse lag with xbox live playing rb6. what other settings besides dynamic fragmentation off do you have set up?

flowerday: i was playing rb6 on xbox live last night with no other computer/videogame device sucking up bandwidth, but i was still experiencing some random 'hiccups'. do you not experience these hiccups?

I didn't play RB6 last night. I was just saying that I've never had problems with RB6.

What's you signal strength like? Try moving to a different channel you might be getting some wireless interference.

That and the firewall are all I have disabled and it works beautifully.

This beautifully in fact :) :

Try making your 360 a static ip and forwarding:
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
And see if that helps.

I placed the X360's IP addy into DMZ. I had to do this for CoD3 and never bothered to change it afterwards, all works fine on my 4300.

I'm still running firmware 1.6 and I have my Xbox in the DMZ

i have my dgl-4300 for more than 6 months now, you have to open all the ports for xbox live, i called microsoft to get the ports, and then called d-link and they walked me through on opening them. once i did that, i have no issues and perfect connection every time. cannot say anything negative about the router. excellent piece of hardware!
