I recently purchased a new 890. Successfully installed the software, and succssfully updated the firmware/software. Successfully added three devices: TV, Receiver, and Comcast dual tuner Motorola DVR box. All functions for everything work perfectly..EXCEPT the hard #4 and #7 buttons! I even went in and manually "learned" these two buttons from the Comcast remote. The learning process went off without a hitch, and I received successful messages. Once I tried to use the remote after the learning process: same thing. Everything else works fine, but the #4 and #7 get no response.

As a test, I hit the "device" button, and selected my receiver (Panasonic SA-HE100). Changing over to "tuner" mode, I then hit the #2 and #3 buttons. Those took me to the corresponding presets. Ditto for 5, 6, 8 and 9.

But pressing #4 and #7 got no response!

Thinking my new remote was faulty, I went and purchased another 890. Progammed it, and EXACT same behavior.

Left an email with Harmony support..but anyone have any idea on this?

Change 4 and 7 to some random command and check to see if it is sending out that signal (like channel up and down). Odd that two 890s don't work for you.

Thanks. I found it extremely odd as well. And the two remotes came from separate stores. One mail order, the other from a local BestBuy. Both brand new, sealed in their boxes.

I'll await a response to my email from Harmony support, but will also try setting those buttons to another function and trying later as well. Original remotes for the cable box and the receiver work completely fine, by the way.

Just call Harmony support, don't wait for an email.

Called Harmony Support. Level one did some testing, no dice. Transferred me to level two. While waiting for 20 minutes, I decided to REALLY press the buttons HARD. Pressed the 4 hard enough to hear two clicks. Boom. It works. Ditto for the seven.
Feel like an idiot. But it's odd. On both remotes, I have to press noticeably harder on the 4 and 7 for them to react.

Guess it's just me..but Im usually not THIS much of a loser. LOL.

False alarm sorry!
