We know you have new masters. You released them earlier this year on DVD.

Pull your finger out and release them. I am getting sick of watching Casino Royale.

The time to release BOND is here, DO IT. The cash is waiting here for all 20 of em !! ;)

And until you do, I'll be forced to enjoy the fabulous DVDs upconverted on my XBR4 that I got for $8 a piece at Target. :)

Goldfinger on MGM-HD (on DirecTV MPEG-4) looks damn good!

You need to whine to Fox, since the catalog 007 are released under MGM, for which Fox holds the distribution rights.

Maybe around the time of the next flick if Sony can get them to help with cross-promotion.

Imo why not pick up the Lowery Digital remastered 007 box sets that came out last year. They have also released the discs that came in the first two box sets individually that can be found at your local Walmart for about $10.Lowery did a MASTERFUL job restoring the Bond flicks and once your BRD/HD DVD/DVD player
is done upconverting them, they should look damn near HD quality as you could get without having the flicks in 1080p on a BlueRay disc.

I almost did. But then I would be double dipping when the Blurays DO come out. And they will eventually.

They should be spectacular. I want em now :o

Since Fox has the distribution rights don't look for them anytime soon.

I would not settle on the DVDs due to the audio alone. Need me some DTS HD MA "young" Connery!I refuse to settle for DVD audio.

Hopefully, they fix a few of the transfer errors that were reported on the DVD set.

Also, it would be spectacular if they did a direct downconvert to 1080p from DTS/Lowry's (hopefully corrected) 4k archival files!!

24 bit lossless audio too!!!

Except for any other HD presentation that may happen.
Upconverts just don't tough HD.

I want these films in HD as well.

And yes, these are Fox/MGM releases.

God, I hope they don't cost an arm and a leg!!

Most of the movies in the recent SD sets look and sound spectacular for DVD, which is all the more reason why we immediately need them available in high definition. I will gladly buy these again on BD.

I want them, you want them, everybody with HD wants them...

But let's put it in perspective.

Sell them now, and move about 15,000 to 20,000 units for each films, or...

Wait until next summer when the hype machine is in full force for Bond 22, and your installed base of hardware has at least doubled, and the cost to manufacture has shrunk...

It's all about marketing: Bond 1-20 on BD during the summer and fall of 08 to coincide with the release of Bond 22

Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992) and the other 2 crummy ones won't come out from Warner until June 08 to coincide with the new Batman Film: The Dark Knight

It's all about maximizing the $$$$ from consumers and what better way to do than to release if these new Batman and Bond films are any good.

I understand the reasoning. But If they released them now, does that mean people wouldnt buy them in the future??

Anyone who wants them will still buy them now or anytime they want them.

Do they just want 20,000 now and the rest in a dribble up till summer 2008. Or they just want the sales in an avalanch? I dont really get the logic?

In 2008 do they release a 22 movie box set? or do they release 20 disks, as we will already have the others?

Seems like a chance to rerelease with an extra movie or two and make more money.

I would have thought that Fox would have no compunction in releasing the movies seeing they didnt make the new ones anyway. What do they care when the new Sony movie is released?

Because I think Sony will get some royalties out of this. So in a way, they do have the decision making ability.

Not sure I'd repurchase all of the Bonds but I would go gaga for nice BD versions of Goldeneye, Goldfinger, and Dr. No.

I didn't buy any remastered DVDs, save a couple bargain bin Connerys I'd never had because I figured the major work was already done for HD, so just wait and buy the whole set, which I never bothered to collect on DVD, must my favorites.

Though I've heard they botched a couple of them, including The Spy Who Loved Me, so they'd better fix them before they come to Blu-ray!

I read last night that Sony have resigned Daniel Craig for the next 4 Bonds for 65 Millionover 10 years.

I hope you all liked him as Bond. He is gonna be around for a while.

I have a friend who works at Fox and while I try to avoid asking him BD related questions I did ask him about Bond.

He said that Bond will come when there is more market penetration. So not good news for Bond any time soon I am afraid.

Unless BD takes off really fast this holiday season! :D

I don't now how much you follow this Home Video business, but the key to the biggest spikes in catalog is cross promotion. Most marketer try to tie re-releases with new films.

This is even trickier when you're dealing with a new format, since it is un-proven. You also have to factor in potential that the cost to initally produce these disc will drop significantly within the next six to eight months.

Look at it this way... Do you spend money now to sell maybe 10,000 copies of each Bond film, which to be honest is highly optimistic? Or, do you hold off for six to eight months and sell 40,000 to 50,000 copies of each film at the cost to make the 10,000.

Here's I'm making an educated guess, I've been around the retail and post-production end of home video over the past few years and have been exposed to though process. Three years ago MGM was anxiously wait for an opportunity to start re-marketing their stuff in HD.

Personally, I'd be surprised if MGM moves more than 75,000 copies of this new DVD box set. This is the third or fourth re-packaging of the series.
