View Full Version : Good place to buy Sony VW60?
AbMagFab 10-31-07, 10:29 AM Not sure if it's okay to post responses to this, so go ahead an PM me if you have good experiences buying the VW60 somewhere.
I won't pay list, and on-line it's as cheap at $3700, so I'd prefer to buy from a place that discounts.
Thanks!
I've looked at many authorized dealers and found AVS to have the best price and service.
grizzly54 10-31-07, 10:47 AM Just be aware of not receiving a warranty or it being a b-stock item if it's on discount over the internet.
scottyb 10-31-07, 10:58 AM AVS or AVS or AVS.
Great Service and pricing

Sorry if this sounds a bit critical Ab, but you have over 400 entries on AVSForum. You apparently find this forum worthwhile and have benefitted from the free service they provide, as have I. You want "discount," and you want internet, so it just puzzles me to put this out here on an AVS Forum, at their expense, and ask if we have any advice. Well, look at the aforementioned entries. Can someone beat AVS by .50 cents ? Maybe. Good luck.
AVS has a great price and is a trusted company. I went with them and had no problems.
If you choose to look into deeply discounted online retailers or Ebay, you may run into unforeseen problems when it comes to warranty issues. Saving a couple hundred bucks isn't worth the potential hassles, in my opinion. You want to feel satisfied once the deal is done, not worried.

+1
IMO, it's a little tacky to come here for suggestions on where to buy from discounters for the following reasons
1) It's against forum rules for "where to buy" threads
See this sticky talking about deleting where to buy threads started by a mod
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=500886
To post one anyway is a slap in the face of our host. Do others start threads like this? yes, they do. Why does AVS not want these type of threads? David, Alan and others have stated they don't want AVS to be about where to buy and a deals forum. They want AVS to be about the hobby and improving our systems through exchanging information.
2) Is there a place for "deals"? Yes, there is a deals forum for those that have paid an AVS Club membership fee. That's where threads like this belong.
As others have pointed out, AVS provides terrific service and price...that should be two reasons to give them an opportunity to earn your business. I'm not saying you shouldn't seek out the right deal for you....just not in the AVS reg. forum.

AbMagFab 10-31-07, 06:12 PM Wow, sheesh, sorry guys. Call me stupid, but I had no idea AVS was a company that sold stuff. I frequent TCF more, and it's obvious there's a store there, I just didn't realize it here.
Sorry.
Good news is, thanks to all the recommendations here, they have great prices and have been helping me make a screen selection, so I plan to purchase from them.
(Next time, maybe help someone out instead of assuming they know everything - I've been clear I'm a newbie here and am looking for information. My ~400 posts are over like 7 years.)
No worries. Many folks don't know AVS sells equipment. I didn't way back in the day when I joined. :)
Max Yokell 11-01-07, 08:34 AM Just curious is it OK to ask what the AVS Price is?

I would call them and ask.
