I saw this on N'Gai Croal's Level Up blog. http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/levelup/archive/2007/10/31/top-five-gaming-tidbits-for-oct-31st-2007.aspx
IMO, its only a matter of time until other retailers follow and remove their PRP's as well.

I'm suprised it took them this long. These companies are probably hemorraghing money by offering these replacement plans!! Especially considering all the problems the 360 has had.

I doubt it. They send the broken units back to MS for a rebate. It's not like GS just dumps them in the trash when you return a broken unit.
they must have lost alot due to returns, retailers make bank from extended warranty.

More like they can't stand that the consumer is actually getting their money's worth on something they offer. That has to tear them up, so no more.
I agree above....Microsoft is the one taking the ultimate hit. I doubt GS is actually losing any money on it other than the time it takes to deal with the returned consoles.

Bingo. Electronics stores make a fortune selling replacement plans because they so rarely have to ever pay out. Replacement plans = pure profit. In this case, they are actually paying out at a rate that makes it a break even or possibly (but I doubt it) a loss.

Yeah, they probably don't make enough to deal with the headache.. Bad on their part but understandable..
