So I just got my mini and it is great but like everyone else I am having severe issues getting something close to my native resolution to my TV. Here is my set up:
Fujitsu 1366x768 TV
Mac mini 2.0 running DVI->HDMI to a Denon receiver that is upscaling to 1080i (acting as a video switch)
I am wondering if anyone has displayconfigx settings that I can use for my TV. Also should I turn off up-convert on my receiver? Anyone else running through a Denon?
Sorry to bring up an obviously dead horse but after hours of searching forums my brain hurts.

Your situation has come up here a number of times before. For example, here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=926144
If that doesn't solve your problem, give you brain a rest, then try searching here. This has come up before.

Not everyone else. I haven't yet had an issue, multiple displays, multiple Macs, 1366x768 over VGA and DVI-HDMI.
Have you tried making a direct connection first, you know, not through the Denon? Let's first see how much of the problem is the display. Then you can add intermediate complications like the Denon.
So yeah I have seen numerous threads citing displayconfigx and switchresx and none have given a definitive solution.
I agree part of it MIGHT be the issue of porting through the receiver and will run direct to the TV tonight, BUT I still would LOVE the displayconfigx settings that someone must have.

You won't know what part of your problem is due to the receiver until you make a successful direct connection to your display. Very likely your receiver will be a significant complication, but you have no way of knowing yet.

good, that's the first step.

These settings are unique to your display model #. There's no way to tell if you even need third party software yet.
I appreciate that and am hopeful that I can at least see what the deal is with a direct connection. My real hope is that by using the DVI Detective it may resolve the middle man issues. Any experiences with that?

Not personally, never saw an advantage trying to send video through an AVR, but yes, over the past couple of years Mac users have reported success with the DVI Detective doing two things: one, it can be pre-programmed to keep a particular resolution that a prickly display might need and 2) it can be the solution if your main problem is that the Mac "loses" sync once you switch away to a different video input on your AVR or switch, and then come back to the Mac. It spoofs the Mac into thinking it's still connected.
But first things first, see what happens with a direct connection over DVI and then VGA. Good luck.
So in furtherance of my utter idiocy...
I did a direct connection and the mini was unable to get me any resolution better than 1280x720. I again tried displayconfigx and completely messed up the display (thank god for screen sharing in Leopard). So it is obviously the display which is just plain odd.
Anyone able to suggest a resource that can walk me through a set up or am I in for hours of trial and error?

what happens when you try going VGA?
