My nephews 360 bricked and I sent it away in the coffin a couple days ago. They don't repair Canadian 360's...just replace them according to tech support. Anyone get back a unit with HDMI in Canada?

View Full Version : Any Canadians get HDMI in replacement 360's? Noose 10-31-07, 07:37 PM My nephews 360 bricked and I sent it away in the coffin a couple days ago. They don't repair Canadian 360's...just replace them according to tech support. Anyone get back a unit with HDMI in Canada? Chronicle-Rod 11-01-07, 12:30 AM They replace them, but they replace them with "Microsoft Certified Replacement Units" which is another word for a refurbished one, not a new one. I just got mine back and it died within an hour of playing - red rings. I checked the manufacture date and it was actually OLDER than the one I'd sent in for repair. Noose 11-01-07, 12:55 AM Buggers! My own "Microsoft Certified Replacement Unit" has been fine since my launch 360 bricked about 5 months ago. Maybe mine was a newer one with the extra cooling gear inside? Do you check 360 serial numbers on the web to verify build date? If so where? Chronicle-Rod 11-01-07, 01:12 AM You can't really tell what your build date is on internal components, but you can at least tell when the original casing was made - the MFR Date on the back of it :p Mike LS 11-01-07, 09:09 AM No, they send you what you had. The only time there's a case for an HDMI replacement for an old unit is if you have the MS extended warranty. There's a line in there that reads something like ....if we choose to replace your console, it will be replaced with a console with all the latest features.... I was hoping I could use that to get a newer model, but they just repaired my original console and sent it back. I guess they just replaced most of the guts because they turned it around in one day. |
