My Xbox is still with Microsoft. Has there been reported cases where they are sending back to the customer refurbed Xbox's that support HDMI when the user only had sent in one that supported component?

I really doubt it. Unless Microsoft wants to lose even more money by shipping out HDMI 360's to people who sent in Component ones.

I sent my 360 that was made Nov 3, 2005 a few weeks ago and received a refurb that was manufactured Nov 2, 2005... It is actually older than my original! I don't think that anyone is going to get an HDMI version without arguing with MS.

A day older? lol thats nothing to worry about. My first one i sent in (currently awaiting my 4th from repair) was brand new! They sent me back one that was from like the original launch date! It lasted like 4 days and that one crapped out. I got so fed up i tried the "towel trick" and was cooking my xbox ( knowing it was going back anyway for repairs and they would send me a new one) So after that not working i sent it back. LOL but this time they sent me back the same 360 that i was cooking! They actually fixed it. But i was pissed knowing that it was the one i cooked lol. It actually lasted months though and just recently bit the bullet.

Notice my dates are both pre-launch. I haven't had time to play it much to see if it craps out. It looks flawless and new though.

The only time you'd have an argument for an HDMI replacement is if you have the MS extended warranty. Although in those cases, it seems that MS is simply replacing the guts in the console you send and shipping the same one right back.

I sent out my launch console last month. Just got my replacement last week and its brand new with a manufacturing date of "2007-10-08". (No HDMI)

I'm waiting on my coffin right now. My 9th 360 since launch (not exaggerating) stopped reading discs the other night, so I'm going through the whole ugly process again. We'll see what they replace it with. I hope at the very least they send me one with the heatpipe on the GPU.

At least I have my spare Core system to use in the meantime. Sad that I actually bought a second system to play while my Premium is off being replaced. :(

Just got mine back refurbished after red ring; no HDMI

My July 06 replacement/fixed box came today but I missed the UPS guy. Guess I'll have to wait till Monday to see what I'm getting. :(

I sent mine back for the second time after they didn't replace my dvd drive the first time I sent it in. I just got it back today, brand new made 10-18-07 with no HDMI

Until these HDMI units starts breaking, of course you wont see HDMI refurbs returned. They are putting those units in new boxes and shipping them to stores. They aren't just going to throw away all the broken consoles they've been refurbing for the last 2 years. I would guess a machine has to go through the reburb system at least a couple times before it's put to death for good.

Well I just got a new one back on the second repair. I think it most definately depends on what the repair is, in my case it was the disc drive and looks as though they simply opted to replace it rather than repair it.

I sent mine in last month and got a refurb back that was older than the refurb I had sent in, Oct 06. I have the MS extended warranty as well. So anyone getting a HDMI unit back should just be thankful.

Don't mean to spoil the party, but if you read any xbox.com forums you'll see nobody that's getting a returned console has a new console. The born on date is just a new sticker declaring when it was "refurbished." If you really had a new console made after September of this year, it would have HDMI. The only thing new about your console is the sticker with the date. It's someone else's trash.

The box has HDMI listed under the specs. Just look at the box.
