If Hitachi had a projector with the newest Epson lens, I think it would be very competitive. I loved that lens. Very sharp. Is this the end of Hitachi's participation in the lcd front projector market? That would be terrible. Anybody know whether anything is on the horizon from Hitachi?

I wish they had a new 1080P model also. I agree that the Hitachi lens is great and coupled with D7 panels and a CMS it would be a great performer. I am only now upgrading (to a Mitsi HC6000) from a TX100 and I still marvel at the TX100's brightness and clarity.

Darn, I think my thread here is a bit of a duplicate. I wrote about this earlier. I'm just desparate to hear about a new projector from them. I did hear a rumour from somebody on here that Hitachi is ditching the home theatre lcd projector market.

It wasn't a rumor. That's what Hitachi's product manager told me. He said it might be temporary, but my guess is that Hitachi is out of this business. Margins are now too low and the only way to make money is like what Panasonic does: sell a lot of units. I don't think Hitachi has the distribution network to do it for the home market.
