View Full Version : Boss Battle, Worst Idea EVER!

In Guitar Hero 3, the boss batles is the worst idea ever! I've been playing on hard through career and only failed 2 songs and got 4 or 5 stars on all of them. So i get up to the last boss, LOU and i cant beat him. ive been on this for 4 ****ING hours already, this is ridiculous, i didnt put it on expert i put it on hard so i shouldnt have to play 1 song for 4 hrs.

and let alone the song i can barely beat this song when he isnt using those stupid CHEAP moves like amp overload where i cant see any notes:mad::confused: and then when they put on double the notes, i dont even know what buttons to hit because there is about 15 notes withcin 3 seconds.

and he doesnt miss one note, i would use my moves when im actually able to get them and it doesnt affect him. i really dont understand. i had the broken string one and i waited to use it right before he would get a move so he couldnt use it on me and when i used the broken string on him BEFORE his special was coming up he was still able to get it. it was like a 2 seond difference, so basically that move or the whamm bar doesnt affect him cause i tried that to along with the amp overload and he still hits every note.

and then at one point in the song, i think its about after the 3rd or 4th special right after the little break you get from the having to hit any notes. you can get and your supposed to hit the orange and yellow together but it doesnt register the yellow button, so i end up losing at that point because i cant hit the notes. i mean what the ****, is there some secret thing you have to do because i know its not the guitar because i was hitting the yellow notes earlier in the song and i also used my GH2 guitar and still the same thing happens.

This is seriously pissing me off, i have a very big temper and i start breaking anything close to me in frustation. this happened to me with a ps2 game before and i threw my controller so hard on the floor it bounced up to my chest and flew into pieces.

im gonna try and sue the game creators or something for making a game this impossible and resulting in giving me psychotic problems haha like i seriously cant take it

and the boss battle wouldnt even be bad if it was like pro-face off where you get the higest score but any game where you get specials and dont use your own skill then its just garbage. i should of known this game was going to have something totaly stupid in it since neversoft worked on it, because if yove ever played tony hawk then you know how bad neversoft is.

so if there is any advice to give me so i cam beat him please post it. oh yea i also tried gathering up three pecails at once and then use them on him one after another but his meter doesnt eve go into yellow it stas in green. so i really have no idea how to even beat this game

I beat him on my second try in medium. I think you can do the battle in practice mode.

well medium i know i'll easily beat him, its not like i suck at this game, its just that its cheap and not hard.

like seriously how i am i supposed to beat someone who DOESNT miss a single note.

and as i was playing before out of nowhere he goes into the orange from one special yet the last 20 times i used consecutive specials and it didnt even affect him.

this is a really bad part of the game. everything else is amazing.

and i dont want to play on medium because that just boring, there is no challange. but on hard its not even hard its just impossible. alls i want is to bea this and never play career mode ever again.

now i know i'll definetly get rock band because its being made by a better company and wont have a stupid cheap boss mode.

I also hate the boss mode. It seems totally out of place and really stupid. Worst part is, you can't really lose either so you have to sit through the whole song hoping your attacks will mean something this time around. And the power ups are random too! If you get scissors or whammy early, you win. If you get crap like double and hard then you might as well not even have them.

This seemed to be Game Informers issue with GH3 as well.

It seems the focus has been taking off of having fun and trying to get your hands around a song to having to worry about having impossible situations and not being able to continue in the game because of bullsh!t.

Rock Band for me.

I am not good at this game by any means (by good I mean being able to have success on Hard or Expert). But I am pretty solid on Medium and I keep getting death drained by Tom. I suppose there is some trick to beating these guys, but they dont miss a note unless you throw a 'breaker' at them...I was close once when I was 'green lined' and he was in the middle red area. Then he goes in to his final two parts that I dont get the opportunity to battle and hits every note and moves back up to the green and in comes the death drain and im done! Im thinking, yes he is in the red, he'll miss a few notes and i'll be the champ because i am already 'green lined'... WTF!!!!!

This type of Boss Battle is f'n stupid. I could understand a points against battle or a 'simon' type battle, but this one really has me frustrated with my overall game experience.

Wait until you have 2 or 3 powerups. Then, wait for him to have a solo. Send over your attacks one after the other and he'll fail. Should take about 30 second to a minute.

I'm not a fan of the boss battles either, but it doesn't ruin the game for me. I don't think anyone should decide not to buy the game on this alone. If you like GH2, you'll still like this game. The battles are only a small part.

I do give them credit for trying something different though. Otherwise we'd be complaining it's just more of the same. *shrug*

Too many parts feel like a chore...the Lou boss battle being the worst offender. I play on hard, and after about 5 times I turned it off before I broke something. There are some fantastic songs in GH3, and way too many stinkers. I'm really mixed on whether I'm happy with the purchase or not...

I agree with most if not all of you on this. The boss battle is a giant let-down, annoyance, frustration, distraction in this game. I lost to Tom Morello 3 or 4 times before I finally understood what I needed to do to beat him. All I want to do is play a song, try to get it perfect and move on to the next fun song and then move up to hard or expert. That @#^$ just gets in the way and who cares if I, you, beat tom, slash or lou. Which I've done, but what's the point really? I loathed having to stop the rhythm and momentum I had built doing the setlists. Save that battle crap for multi-player or challenges aside from the career mode I say.

At least the song list is pretty fun. I give it a couple thumbs up for that. Have fun y'all.

This game isnt bad, its just the boss battles that are horrible. so dont let that stop you from buying it if you really are thinking about getting it. there are some great songs a lot of ok songs and then some bad ones. once you get to the second to last tier when you have to play songs from terrible bands like slipkno, then thats when it gets bad. but the majority of everything else is good. and online is really fun, ive been playing a lot of online matches.

and the only other bad thing about the game is the guitar. i thought it was going to be great, but you cant hook it up with the wire so you will waste a lot of batteries. and the fret buttons sometimes dont work because you have to put the guitar together, its in 2 pieces.

but if you were deciding on rock band or this and dont have a lot of money to spend, i would without a doubt say go with rock band 100%.

Agreed, I just wish that they had tried in a different way, because the Boss Battle is annoying, regardless if you're good at it or not.

Boss Battles are terrible. I hope Rock Band comes through, this is likely my last purchase in the Guitar Hero series.

I can see this being the first step in a continuous decline for the series, Neversoft is gonna take something great and run it into the ground with a bunch of stupid crap that has no place in this type of game just like they did with Tony Hawk, only difference is this time it's someone else's baby they're destroying.

I like the actual music in battles but yeah the gameplay is pretty annoying. What's even more annoying is you can't play these songs straight up in quickplay unless you buy them when they come out in a week or so. Diffinatly my last Gh purchase.

I hate the boss battles too. They ripped off an idea from the head to head puzzle games and tried to make it work in guitar hero. I would have preferred more of a dueling banjos type thing where you had to outplay your opponent even if it meant you had to play it perfect.

I really like that devil went down to georgia song. I wish I could just play it normal in quick play or something.

I have not failed any but I still HATE them. Worst idea ever for the franchise.

ok so its been 7 hours now of trying to beat this and i cant do it. right when you take that break and come back and hit the yellow and blue note and then it goes yellow and orange, and you CANT even get passes it because it doesnt register.

i dont understand, it only registers the orange button, is this happening to anyone else.

i bought this game from gamestop, so can i return if it for a refund before 7 days, because there is no way you can beat this unless some miraculous thing happens.

finally beat it after 10hrs. now i can live in peace:D

but neversoft really needs to put out an update that takes the boss battles out or just switch it to pro face off, that owuld be A LOT better
