Cheating is nothing new. Boosting with friends is nothing new. However, reading that some feeble minded morons loan their gamertags to better players so they can boost their gamerscore is a whole new realm of absurdity.

Its one thing to loan out your account but if you buy one of those transfer kits and take the save put it on your HDD and insert game unlock all achievements who gives a rats ass..F*CK OFF MSFT.

I guess that this applies to all the people that still think Gamerscore is an actual measure of skill and not the amount of free time you have?

I use to be an achievement whore but I found more important things in life..Its called bills, working to pay those bills and getting an education to get even more bills. :D

I know why they do it, since they run those rewards programs it evens it out and makes it a fair advantage but its just ridiculous really...

They could market and package up a disc that automatically gives you 1000 gs points just by inserting it into the 360 and sell it for 50 bucks and it would fly off the shelf.

I could understand it if you could use them to buy/trade but you cant so who cares.

Kindof related, but there is a show on one of the HD channels called "Gamer Generation"

There are guys/companies getting rich by playing as other people in games to up their skill advancement. It was quite interesting...basically a guy started it, and then now has moved his company to India (for cheap labor) and has quite a few employees playing games 24/7 round the clock. Someone just has to pay $x to get their character to skill y, and the company does it.

Genious if you ask me. I refuse to think of things like this. Not everyone has 100000 hours to dedicate to World of Warcraft to get their character to a decent level.

In my opinion, the gamerscore should be a number relative to the number of points you 'could' gain if you got them all in the games you have played...so a percentage could be calculated.

my gamerscore is not that great 3000+ but then i've not played that many games compared to many. But on the games I really like, I try to get as many as I can.

There was more than one reward program? I only recall the Old Spice Challenge where I got Contra for free by playing King Kong and Fight Night.

That would work if they changed some things. Trying out an arcade demo automatically includes 0/200 in your records. They would need to make the ratio not count until you got at least one point in the game.

Doing that will get you perma-banned though. Blizzard has cracked WAY down on that. They have automatic alerts for accounts that sign on in the US and then sign on in China an hour later. Some people still pay for it, but only the ones that don't realize they're going to be banned within the week.

lol so true. One of my buddies has like a 90,000 gamerscore and everyone is always saying how good of a player he must be. I always have to remind them that he doesn't have a job and is on xbox live 24/7.

True, I hadn't thought about that....maybe that is why something like this isn't implemented.

IMO peopel who do that shoudl have their account, box, name, an email banned from live.

the problem with bannign an xbox though, what if they sell it? whoever buys that box might not be able to get on XBL by no fault of his own. banning a certain xbox may not be such a great idea

While I do agree that is would be bad for the person who unknowingly buys the banned console. I do think that it is very necessary to deter cheating. Think about it. If you ban their console then they get a $279 to $479 paperweight which they can't do a whole lot with. You would have to buy a whole new console to get back on XBL. As far as I know when your console is banned then you can still play it offline though so it is not a total loss. What is sad is that they have to do such things.

I dispise people who cheat.."cheaters eat peters" I always say. They ruin the game for the rest of us that are actually playing online to get better and more skillful. It amazes me the time and effort people put into ...cheating...

I don't play online, so I honestly don't know the answer to this question. Does your gamerscore matter, other than bragging rights, within any games? Would cheating to get a higher gamerscore matter in any real way?

It's essentially bragging rights. Plus, when some folks (not me) see their GT near the top of whatever list, perhaps it gives them some kind of affirmation of accomplishment.

I imagine teenages and perhaps even adults compete with their friends using the gamerscore.

When I was a kid, we would compete in the classroom or on the field in ahletics. Things have changed.

Cheating, paying people to play for you for better ranking, etc... people are talking this too seriously  Isn't video gaming just for fun?

I personally wouldn't care if I am #129348938938448 in ranking instead of one of the top 10 :D as long as I have fun playing. In a cut throat world like we are in isn't real world give people more than enough challenges? I'd rather relax and enjoy after work...

Imagine the want ad: Seasoned, experienced, successful video gamer needed to assume my online identity and woop some ass in my stead. Willing to pay top dollar and / or perform sexual favors for top notch talent.

100% bragging rights and nothing else. You tend to get labelled a n00b in the under 16 crowd when someone sees your low gamerscore. Just means you have to hunt down and frag whomever was trashing you a few times.

I like my achievements, but why would I feel proud of someone else's score? I earned mine. Just like cheating, it doesn't feel like a win if I cheat. So I feel sorry for someone who wants a reputation without earning it. But I guess we have different names for a reason.
