So i have a Everio 20GB. I bought it thinking that it would be OH so awesome for just plugging into my PC and making home DVD's. Unfortunately this is not the case. The video is not that great quality and i have not been able to find a good way to make it so.

Now I say screw it and i am going to buy a good camcorder. So I ask you all. What to buy. My son does baseball and my daughter does gymnastics so some indoor some outdoor.

I want good quality video that i can plug into my computer and extract the video. I am open to software suggestions as well, I have been using Sony Vegas, and tried a few others. The camcorder does not have to be HD but that would be way cool.

I would say i want to keep the cost under $1500 or so,

For $1500 you can buy a very nice HD camcorder, like the Canon HV20, a wide-angle adapter, a better microphone and still have money to spend with your kids. Even if all you want is to produce SD DVDs, high-def camcorders will have a much better picture when you edit it and downrez to SD. Videos up to 20 minutes can also be recorded in HD on a standard DVD media or 40 minutes on a DVD-DL .

I use Ulead Movie studio Plus , very easy to master . You can download it for free and try it for 30 days. Wait one more weak and the new version, 11.5 will be available. The new version will allow the creation of BluRay DVDs on standard media.
