Anyone else thinking of picking this one up? I played the demo with my girlfriend and it seemed like it would be a pretty fun party game.

My only concerns would be how many unique questions there are and if there would be additional downloadable questions. Anyone hear anything about this?

I was thinking the same thing...there HAS to be additional questions that can be downloaded....question is..how much will it cost and will the questions be sold by category

Judging by the demo though, doesn't look like the movie clips will be HD?

I won't be picking it up, for one reason only......I don't have a family. If I actually had other people to play it with, then maybe I would. My wife can care less about video games including this one.

This reminds me of the Jeopardy game on N64. I was unstoppable because I memorized all the answers after playing enough.

I'm sure you can get new questions, but you'd have to pay for them. I think it's crap that you have to pay $40+ for a game that is pointless after a few sessions, then you have put more money into it so it's playable.

I still think that DDR and Guitar Hero the champions of party games.

It says somewhere in the demo that the clips are in HD (maybe when you quit, and it shows you all the screenshots of the game?).

I read somewhere that there were over 1800 questions in the game and there would be 2400 available for download in the near future. I am sure you have to pay for the downloads though.

I still think it is a good value, $60 and it comes with 4 wireless remotes.

Hopefully this is true, my biggest concern would be memorzing all the questions after playing it with a few different groups of friends. I guess this will be a game I only play when there are 4 people ready to play vs. just casually with another person.

I'll definitely be picking this up. I have a 3rd copy of Halo 3 from a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal from TRU. I'll return that an make the swap.

I'm sure question packs will become available, as long there are plenty of questions. If it's priced 1 question per 1.5 points, that might not be too bad. (1600 ?s = 2400 pts)

I just hope this opens the gates for games like You Don't Jack, Trivia Persuit, etc.. since I'll already have the controllers.

It would have been sweeter if we could have attached the chatpad for games like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and the like..

I also tried the demo sadly though my family including myself doesn't watch enough TV/Movies to be able to answer half the questions that were shown. Based on a few different versions the Disney one was the only one we could answer the majority of questions to. The game looks like fun although I wasn't a fan of the way questions are intro'd, looked to cheesy/low quality for me. I was going to buy it when I first heard about it but after playing the demo I know it won't get much use so I'll pass.

I'm thinking about getting this. (It's official, I'm getting old :( ) Problem is I don't see it getting used all that much. We don't have company over that much so it would be just me and her at it. Thanksgiving possibly but thats about it. Demo was cool just seemed like things were a little drawn out instead of just getting to the questions. Not going to lie, alot of the movies I knew nothing about. Infact, quite a few I didn't even know existed. Would be nice if you could do it by genre.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels iffy about the game. I think if the game was geared more towards younger kids I would get a lot more use out of it during my family get-togethers. Right now I'll pass until the obvious future addon packs come out. Besides I still have yet to get Bioshock and PGR4 and with Mass Effect coming I don't want to waste money on something that will only get played for about 20min.

Yeah I laughted after watching it because my friends aren't like that one bit. Who thinks this crap up. I guess a bunch of chubby dudes sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating junk food while there wife/girlfriend is in the other room rolling her eyes is a bit far fetched to them.

I noticed in the video that the controllers have an IR on the top of it. Do they use IR only or is it RF like the 360 wireless controller? Seems as if they are always pointing it at something when they are pressing the buttons. This could be an issue for some, including me.

The controllers are IR, and they do indeed have to be pointed at a sensor that plugs into the USB port. But if they are anything like any other IR remote, there's a pretty huge margin of error. Heck, I can point my TiVo remote at my wife sitting on the couch and the TiVo still catches the signal. I doubt you have to be pointing directly at the sensor.

I'd actually rather there was an option to buy this game *without* extra controllers, and to instead just use the standard Xbox 360 wireless controllers. I already have 4 Xbox 360 wireless controllers, so the last thing I need is yet more battery-powered game-specific accessories. I understand it doesn't cost any additional amount (i.e. the title is already $60 even with the hardware), but would be nice to get a discounted copy of the game ($50?) without the special-purpose remotes.

Too expensive, I'm sure. IR is much cheaper to implement than an RF antenna.

I was worried when I heard that it would be using IR because my 360 is so low in my room that I have trouble getting an IR signal to it with ease. But since they have a dongle, I can place that wherever I want.

Look into Buzz?Jr. for younger audiences. ( and if you have a ps2 - sorry didn't check this until after I posted)

I downloaded the demo and will pick it up as a feeble attempt to prove that the gaming system in the middle of the living room is for anyone else but me and share the love.

They could save the effort on some of the animations to let the pace of the game pick up a little. Do we really have to sit through the whole King Kong clip to be asked "who was the director?"

It says clips are in HD - resolution?. 720p? or "HD" as a result of the 360 output at 1080

I bought the game and enjoy it. It has good questions and lots of different clips to watch and gameplay types. It remembers which questions have been asked so it does not repeat them. The clip quality varies some.. I would say HD is a bit of a stretch but they look like good dvd quality or maybe slightly higher. The buzzers work well and the gameplay is pretty fun. Overall a good buy,

I have to wait till later to try, but the directions say you can keep the dongle connected and still use the wireless controllers. And, the wire to the dongle must be 10 feet long at least. Pretty cool if you want to strategically place the IR receiver and not move it all the time.

Yeah you can use wireless controllers and IR at the same time> I Just leave the dongle attached all the time. The advantage of the IR buzzers other than cost is that the battery life should be excellent. Like a remote control you don't have to ever turn these controllers off and on they just emit a short burst when a button is pushed so they should use very little power and never have to be turned on or off.

Hmmm... does this mean the game has potential subliminal advertising for upcoming movies? Can you imaging free downloadable content and then finding out it is all the questions are for "Fred Clause"? *Blech*

Though, a good idea would be to have free downloadable content after a summer blockbuster hit. The only way you could get it is if you go to a movie theater, and get a download code.

Don't mean to hijack the thread (as I will definitely buy Scene It, once it releases in Canada), but the Wii just released a trivia game called "Smarty pants". Picked it up this morning and plan to play on Friday with the family.

If you are into Trivia games, this might be up your alley as well as Scene It. Also, Smarty Pants has age appropriate questions, as you can put the age of the person and the questions that they get will be directed at their age or something like that.

Anyways, regarding Buzz Jr., I heard that they will release it specifically for the PS3 early next year. Another trivia game to look into.

Now back to Scene It.

When the heck are they going to release this in Canada? This is the first time we had to wait over a week to get a game that was released in the US.

Bought this last week. A lot of fun to play and the controllers make it really easy for those family members that don't play Xbox and might not like the regular controllers. If you have family members that like movies this is almost a must buy.

I'm in a similar situation such as you. The game was a big hit with everyone. My 9 and 10 year old love playing the game even though they struggle with most of the questions. The "kid" movies/questions are few and far between. They'll probably enjoy buzzing in, guessing at answers, and laughing at the insults the commentator throws out after each round.

I took the game over to another friends house, and during the course of the game there were only a couple questions I've had before. Not too bad, it does randomize the questions and doesn't play them in any specific order.

Sometimes I wonder where my brain is!! I was looking for an off button on the controllers and upset that the batteries would die quickly because it does nto have one! I guess I just use too much IR stuff with the Xbox!!

Anyway... I got this game the day after Thanksgiving because I had a house full of people. We had 8 people playing - 4 teams with 2 people on each. I like that is comes with the extra controllers. This way Everyone has a controller to beep in with. The hardest part was figuring out what button on the wireless controller was the big button on the IR controller.

Everyone liked the game (Even my wife who thinks video games are the domain of the devil) and the questions ranged from classics to Newly released movies! I was in shock when question about Bee Movie popped up!

Even my wife, who was horrified at me spending $60 on a video game for her parents and grandma to play, was smiling at the end after seeing that everyone had so much fun.

Make no mistake, this is strictly a party game and there is no single player satisfaction to be found. Also, its inevitable that there will always be at least one "movie" genious in the crowd, but I don't know how they could compensate for that.

This game is fun but its different compared to the board games because you have a short amount of time to answer the question (you usally get 30 secs) and you have to read a lot. The board game, you can make teams whereas LCA, you don't have enough time for say a team of 2 to make an answer espcially if its not a buzz in question.

I enjoy it however, its just different...

My family and I really enjoyed this game. I did feel however that the pacing was a little slow. If the questions would come at you a little faster I think it would add to the excitement of the game. It would also be nice if the point difference from instant answer to no answer would be greater than 2000. It seems that you can run away with the lead if other players answer a few wrong and can never catch up. We played on Thanksgiving and twice since then and there has been no repeat questions or clips. This game should be a definite buy for people that enjoy board and party games.

My girlfriend hates video gaming but loves movies. I talked to her about getting this and she agreed to try it and after playing 3 long games on Saturday, while socked in from a blizzard, she is addicted. I'm not a big movie guy, but most of the mini-games are from popular movies, so you can do ok even if you're not a movie junkie. That's exactly why I won't buy this game as a party game personally. Although I'm a casual consumer of movies, a number of my friends are heavily into the film industry, went to film school for 4 years, etc. They know EVERYTHING about movies and film history that would be included in a game like this designed primarily for 'regular people'. Basically, I have no one to play it with who wouldn't 100% kick my ass. It's like if the only person I had to play Halo with was Fata1ity or something. 'hey, you won again!' would get a little old for me : )

I wish they made a more general trivia game like this though. I need next gen HD Alec Trebek Jeopardy!

I bought this and played it with 3 others last night. Overall, it's pretty fun, however, a few suggestions:

1. don't show the player's selected answer until all answers are entered
2. get rid of the cut scenes, completely unnecessary and they don't really look that great
3. XBox 360 version of You Don't Know Jack using the same controllers would be great

Dont pick party play when you select your game. You have to pick the other option that way you dont see anyones answer. The party play is just for practice/fun. Party play does move faster though. You want to play 'play now'. The short version is 3 questions per category and the long is 5. We usually do 3 as 5 takes some time.

We had a small New Years get together with a couple of other families. We started playing after midnight and had a ball for the next couple of hours. The remotes are great, the presentation and interaction is great.

Some notes for those on the fence:

1. The opponents answers ARE hidden until everyone selects a choice. (the first game we played was party play, and the answers are shown, but the other option for long/short games the answers are hidden). That being said, party play was actually pretty fun, and may be an option for those people on other teams that are not well versed in moves.

2. Many times there were movies that we had ot seen, but 3/5 questions were about things going on in the background/ or details on the conversation, and the key was paying attention (such as how many legs were on the bug, or what was the room number behind the actor, or what city was the scene taking place in, or what did the actor/actress say in the scene etc). To get all the answers correct you needed to know something else about the movie however.

3. This game might be a way to get the WAF (wife acceptance factor) high. "Look honey, this is a great family/party game, and I bought an Xbox with it so we can play it together and also when we have parties......" The other wives did mention that "maybe they too should get an Xbox to play this game".

I bought this before X-mas, & my family just played a little while ago. I think this is going to become a Friday evening ritual. It mentions in the (sparse) literature, that you can log in as yourself to get achievements & whatnot.

My question is, how? I got myself logged in, but how do I get my wife & daughter (as their own profiles) logged in. Every time I tried to hit the "big X" on any controller it always came up as me (since I logged in first)?

The hand controllers function as the same way at the joypads. You have to individually sign in with a specific controller (ie player 1 = green = you sign in, exit, then player 2 = red = daughter sign in, exit, player 3= blue = wife sign etc....)
