I have an oppurtunity to purchase a sharp xvz 20000 1080p for $5500. I have a xvz 3000 now. Outside of being able to display 1080p , will i notice a significant improvement in PQ to justify the additional investment on r3egular hi def material such as video games and D tv?

Thats a tough question. You already have a decent black level and contrast and it will be improved upon with a XVZ20000. Detail will be better as well when watching 1080i/p. Are you able to view the xvz20000 beforehand?? I'm currently limited to what I can view locally so that limits my impressions to what is best for me money wise. 1080p is going to get cheaper so I say spend what you can afford today and don't worry about it tomorrow.

Thats a pretty good deal, but you could probably get a better one via AVS.

they have one hooked up at Ultimate Electronics but they only have a 480p signal running through it. It looks the same as the 3000 running the same signal. Just wondering how much better the picture will look than waht i have now. It does have a 12,000 to 1 contrast ratio as were mine now has only 6500.
