Epic Records will release the Blu-Ray DVD, Shakira Oral Fixation Tour, from Shakira, scheduling the video for December 18. DVD extras include Barefoot, a 20-minute documentary of Shakira and her non-profit organization, 3 bonus videos (“Obtener Un Si” (Live); “La Pared” (Live); “Las De La Intuicion”), and Around the World in 397 Days, a 5-minute ‘behind the scenes’ film. The 16-song performance DVD will come with a 6-song bonus audio CD (“Intro,” “Estoy Aqui,” “Don’t Bother,” “Inevitable,” “La Pared,” “Hips Don’t Lie”).

I have the stardard DVD version and will be getting Blu-ray also. The DVD looks amazing on Panasonic BD30 player and uncompressed PCM 2.0 audio is amazing also with Dolby PLIIx. I can't wait to see how much better Shaki will look on Blu-ray and sound with PCM 5.1!

With the 'Oral Fixation Tour,' Shakira proves she really has her act together, with sharp pop songs, a terrific production and enough dancers for a Broadway show. This Blu-ray is a great document of the tour, with top-tier video and audio, and some nifty supplements, too. If you're a Shakira fan, don't even hestitate to pick this one up.

I hope that segment is on this new Shakira blu-ray.

Got the disc yesterday - popped it in for a little while and while it does look great, the lighting seemed way oversaturated to me. When she's lit using white lighting, it's not a problem but whenever they hit her with the red/orange/yellow lights, it looks very distracting (like someone cranked up the contrast and saturation to the max). With the fast cuts and changing of lighting, I found it a bit tough to watch at parts.

With that said, it looks like another fantastic concert (I loved her last one). The Blu Ray also comes with an audio CD of a few songs from the concert.

The clip on the PSN is 11 minutes long and ~700MB. So, I think it's a lot lower quality than the BD. I guess I'll have to pick it up to confirm. :D

where was this concert film? was it at msg? i saw the trailer on my ps3 and the cop uniform doesn't look like nyc cop uniform though.

Dialnorm may reduce the overall level -4dB.

To raise the volume 3dB you'd need to double the power (5W to 10W, etc).

Compression otherwise has nothing to do with it.

I agree. I compared the DD to the PCM. At first I noticed that there were volume differences... even after adjusting the volume to match, I could still tell the difference between the two. I'm not typically one who cares about lossless tracks, but this is a case where there is no denying that the PCM sounds fuller and richer... (unless there is some other factor that I havent considered).

Also - if anyone is interested, I can post some screen shot comparisons between the PS3 trailer (720p AVC) versus the actual 1080p AVC.

I'm not an expert on sound, but over in the blu-ray audio thread, this bd ranks in tier 1. The main complaints is that surrounds were mainly used for audience cheering (which isnt entirely true as I hear instruments coming from them) ... and that her mic seemed to be turned up a little louder than it should be ( her voice drowns out background and other singers )

I think the sound on Celine Dion's is a little better than this, but it's 96khz so it probably should be. Is the PQ of the NIN any good? Have you heard the AC/DC?

Shakira on PCM sounded perfect on my system except for the La Tortura track. I had to decrease the LFE channel by about 2 db.

The final product looks infinitely better than the PSN trailer, so there's nothing to fear in that respect.I hope so. :) Back when I had a PS3 I viewed the trailer and lost all interest. I keep hearing how it looked terrific and was greatly disappointed.

The above captures were "in motion" so it's part of the reason why neither seem completely focused. The 720p trailer was converted to 1920x1080.

One note -- for those who question Apple TV's high definition.. I'm sure quality is similar to the 720p trailer. It's between 5-7mbps, whereas the BD is in the 20s and higher resolution.

One movie I viewed quite a bit was The Brave One (1080p projector with 110" image) and it held up very nicely. Certainly not equal to the best Blu-ray transfer but at the same better than the worse.

I tried it coming from the Apple TV at 720p, 1080i, and 1080p and I ended up liking 1080p the best (letting the Apple TV scale the image). For some reason Apple TV rentals (most of them) have a lot of pop (high contrast) and extremely smooth motion.

I haven't heard the AC/DC myself but the NIN has exceptional PQ along with the AQ. If you have a sub up to the task be forewarned, there are some pretty deep spots in there.

PS I think everything Shakira did before her crossover to the US market is fanatastic. Pies and Landrones are phenomenal albums in respects to quality of music and audio mastering. Laundry Service and beyond are not really my cup of tea.
