I just heard that SIM2 added Brilliant Color and Unishape to the D80 with the new designation being D80E. I'd be curious to see how these technologies enhance the performance. This could be THE "bang-for-the-buck" model in SIM2's line.

Sim2 for the win!
As you were one of those keen to see the HT5000 screens, take a look over in the $20k forum, I've put a load on a new thread.

Is the D80e much less expensive than the 380? Lumen output (calibrated) of the D80e?

About $2500 less...don't know how lumen output compares to 380, but they have the same lamp, so I'm guessing they'll be about the same.
The D80E is a great projector for the money. The Brilliant Color and Unishape lamp technology have taken it into another league.

So, what will be the big differences between the D80E and HT380?

The HT380 will have advantages in Contrast, Optics, CMS, some lightpath differences, additional processing,2 lens options. And dont forget the....VELVET BAG.
I also think that the brillian color vesion is different (also CMS related)
The e vesion will offer the same improvements as with other models. Calibrated lumens should now be over 600
EDIT: Nevermind, read the post wrong...

WHAT?!? You mean the D80E will NOT come with a velvet bag??? Enough said! That, alone, is a huge difference warranting going to the HT380. Remember, the velvet bag can be used for other purposes such as jewelry storage. It's value is incalcuable.
