View Full Version : Would 360 games sell better overseas with more naked ladies and/or sex in the games?
whiskey > work 11-01-07, 06:10 PM As videogames become more and more realistic, gamers are evolving into a more mature crowd. Case in point, Pong came out in the late 70's. A 20 year old gamer at that time in pushing 50! There's some dirty old men out there who would like to look at some hoo hoo's in their games. I mean let's face it: that's the direction we are going in. And this is just AMERICA! We got our violence in games. What else sells out there? Hmm let me think. SEX! That's right. Naked ladies sell units just like violence does. Overseas, markets like Japan and Europe obviously want sex in games. Countries like Amsterdam have red light districts where people SHOP for a night of fun. You don't think a game with sex would sell there? The Japanese need extremems. The got their WII, they need something at the total polar opposite end of the spectrum. This is what MS is missing out. They could fill the void and corner and dominate the market if only they released some controversial videogames. Discuss
I wonder what the achievements would be like....
Don't answer that.

Porn? Is this like your "More Smoking and Drinking in Games!" thread? Dude, you hit 18 or 21...all of that stuff becomes as exciting as going to the carwash or something. You seem awfully preoccupied....
Are your parents ministers?
Does your dad have a long beard and not wear buttons?

I don't really have a problem with any kind of mature content in games, be it sex or violence, but I want good gameplay first. The over the top gore and violence and shallow gameplay games seem to have had their era in the early and mid 90's and evolved their way into some pretty decent titles spawning multiple genres. When that happens with any type of game featuring sexual content let me know. I doubt I'll ever be interested in a shallow Sims clone, tycoon game or dating simulation though.
Nics1246 11-01-07, 06:59 PM Sex sells, period.

I think the Wii is the perfect medium for what you want. Just think....strap your Wii-mote to your Wii-man and get ready for a night of hot action playing Super Mario Humpty-Bump.

I was thinking the same thing.
I don't know about overseas but they would sell very well to me.
ultracat 11-01-07, 11:11 PM 360 games would sell better ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE with more naked ladies and/or sex in the games!
dssturbo1 11-01-07, 11:18 PM yes, more naked ladies!
LAKE4742 11-01-07, 11:51 PM Both Asia and Europe seem more open about sexuality, and I think they would care more about 360 games if they offered some AO themed games. I think it's a shame that so many gamers are over the age of 25, but still have no AO themed titles. But it's even more of a shame that the reason we don't see AO themed games in America is because of parents not doing a good job of regulating what their kids play-so the industry gets the blame for being too violent. So many little kids play GOW; and at first, I wanted to be a "good guy", and not curse whenever playing against them, but I realized that Mature rated games are rated that way for a reason. The same goes for R rated movies. If parents were doing a better job of not exposing kids to such material at such a young age, we might have some AO themed games already.
Well, they have sold strip poker games on pc as long as I can remember.....
I think developers should be allowed to release AO games, but the reason they don't is because your major stores won't carry them. When you have that, its not worth it to release it. That's why manhunt did the toned down thing just recently.
On a side note, I'm surprised that live vision camera hasn't been used to make some of the....um...young ladies famous.
jason10mm 11-02-07, 08:10 AM So, all of you guys are playing Conan, right? 'Cause there are topless chicks in that game. I think it is a pretty fun game. Not nearly as polished as Heavenly Sword, but way more brutal and fun.
properbostonian 11-02-07, 08:17 AM Everyone is, of course, right that sex sells.
However, there are so many easy ways right now to see just about anything you want. I don't need or want this element in video games.
Although, I have to admit, when it comes to violence, the US seems to have to have a warped view. Why is violence acceptable and sex/nudity not?
It's ok to commit armed robbery and murder a prostitute in a video game but nudity is not allowed?

that's right! And the guy earlier was right as well about parents not doing a good enough job of policing these games for their kids with regards to violence. And the other guy is also right about major stores not selling the product which is a big reason why they won't do it. But the net could help this...

My thoughts exactly. I've seen lots of sex in video games. Unfortunately, the game has been UNO, and the sex has consisted of only person, who is usually male, morbidly obese, and thoroughly enjoying his own company...
JonDotCom 11-02-07, 08:02 PM Just think how many we could sell in Iran if the we could just get the human rat and bushy to play nice... hey maybe they'd abandon their nukes for that sort of content! I smell a peace deal!

ROFL!
Max Lomax 11-03-07, 10:44 AM Anyone who gets sexually aroused by video game characters needs to immediately throw their console out the window and seriously re-examine what they are doing on this planet.

ThumperII 11-03-07, 11:45 AM Didn't Leisure Suit Larry sell well?
I think game play would be the number one seller, but sex could be used as a differentiator. B&M sales would be an issue as others have said.

fashionably, this woman was ahead of her times. Note those napolean dynamitesque snow boots that are all the rage with today's younger women. I'm surprised they didn't get sued when this box art came out. No pants? But in response to the gentleman's post a couple lines up, I will be the first to admit that people who fantasize about videogame characters deserve to be whipped with a hickory stick. But in defense of these pathetic individuals, have you seen the videos of soul caliber 4 yet? Let's just say that Ivy makes Dolly Parton look like Ashley Olsen if you know what I'm sayin.

Mona Sax in Max Payne... guilty as charged.:D
Megalith 11-03-07, 10:02 PM If the 360 division wants to see a profit, all they need to do is release nude patches on marketplace.
bkchurch 11-03-07, 10:14 PM I think it's a proven fact that naked ladies make everything sell better.
The Outlaw Torn 11-04-07, 01:15 AM You know your a video game nerd when your trying to justify fake digitally created nude ladies in video games is a good thing.

http://www.mtv.com/bands/w/weird_al/thumbnails/amish_paradise_140x105.jpg At 4:30 in the morning he's milking cows as his mother feeds the chickens and his father plows fool. lol dude of course games would sell better over seas with more sex, but that isn't the point of games. Entertainment yes, but who cares about a well rendered girl when you can go out in the real world and find a beautiful women that will actually love you.
FreeBaGeL 11-05-07, 12:53 PM Oddly enough, Conan is rampant with digital boobs and it sales have been poor. There was also "The Guy Game" which took it one step further by marketing that it did the same and its sales were trash.
So, people''s theory that naked ladies in games = sales has been a total failure thusfar. Perhaps that's because even the dimmest of dimwits aren't stupid enogh to pay $60 for digital breasts when they can find the easily accessible real life versions of them for free by typing the word "boobs" into google.
i agree with OP, Xbox Japan needs more boob games to help it sell! Also giveaways that include mousepads with implants.
think i read in kotaku sometime that this makes games sell over there. that and used panties

That's in Japan.....you gotta expect f**ked up stuff like that over there.
