What kind of quality should be expected from new CRTs? Should they be of better quality than CRTs that were made seven years ago?
The reason that I'm asking is that I recently exchanged a new CRT because it had moire on the sides. The replacement is the exact model but seems to have some sort of pincushioning thing going on. The pincushioning is on the bottom and top, not the sides. It's mostly noticable when watching something in widescreen or with one of those scrolling news bars on the bottom. I don't recall the defective one having this pincushioning. I'm sure I would've noticed it.
I'm not particularly happy with this but I suppose it's better than the moire. I don't remember having issues with defective TVs like this years ago. Maybe I'm expecting too much. Maybe the quality isn't supposed to be perfect. Or maybe the quality isn't supposed to be perfect nowadays.
Any thoughts?
I know I do expect too much out of what I buy. I expect everything to be perfect. Even if it's some $1, dollar store piece of junk.
