Well after putting it off for a year or so....I finally decide to try and upgrade my media storage cabinet. After a bunch of sawdust, glue and nails..I finally came up with this.

What you think?

Looks nice!!! I like the crown molding! Is that space between the rack and the red wall or a shadow?

Very nice. As I mentioned in another thread I am remodeling a basement. There is a closet down there that I plan to turn into a dedicated media storage cabinet.

Looks really good. There is almost no way not to have a gap. When I did these (http://swingtownusa.blogspot.com/2007/10/bookself-theater.html)my walls were bowed. Nothing a little filler couldn't fix.

Are you going to put crown in the rest of the room?

Very nice, could you post some of the dimensions? My DVD collection has outgrown my current rack, and I'm going to build it myself.

Thanks,
I just changed the picture to completely filled and trim molding finished.
Now for the size...the main unit is 8 feet tall by 40 inches wide by 7 inches deep...the side unit is 8 feet tall by 30 inches wide by 7 inches deep......Both units built from 5/8 MDF. They were fastened together and then fastened to the walls. Base molding is 3 1/2 inches tall..and the case on to is 2 1/2 inches tall.

If you want to see more pictures of the build check:

look at the pictures labeled Shelf

Hope this helps someone :)

Time to buy some more discs.

Nice job on the molding. I get nightmares thinking about that little piece of baseboard in the corner. It looks great.

RayJr,

That looks great!

When we finished our basement we added a built-in DVD rack. it's located right outside the home theater.

It was good when we first built it but it's almost full now.
