View Full Version : XBOX and issues??
dallasjetfan 11-02-07, 05:25 PM I was thinking about buying a PS3 because of the BluRay. I have always been tempted to buy the XBox 360, but have been nervous because of the issues involved. Are there any specific production dates or something similar that should be avoided? I just don't want to have to keep sending systems back.
corymat 11-02-07, 05:43 PM no guarantee but it seems the recent HDMI versions are more stable because of the extra heatsink. I was in the same boat kinda - I own a PS3 and was wary of the 360 because of all the RROD problems but took the plunge and it's really a blast. No regrets here.
Morkeleb 11-03-07, 12:29 AM The only downside to buying your first 360 now is getting the time and money to catch up on all the great games you've missed!

Tell me about it! Me and my girl picked up a 360 at the end of August for BioShock. Just catching up on the last two years of games for the thing has cost us about a $1000 so far. The thing has gotten a whole lot of play for the last couple of months though. If everyone is using it as much as we have been, I'm not surprised they have had a history of dying. Ours is on a good 4 hours a day on average.

You'll hear from people who have had problems, or have a particular "thing" for talking about problems.
My 360 is a launch one. It's been great. No issues at all. Most 360 owners have had the same great experience I have.

MS recently wrote off one billion dollars to take care of reliability problems. Ask yourself if that is telling in any way.
My resolution, buy from Costco. My 2nd box is freezing and getting bad disc errors so it is going back to Costco. I will pick up a memory card for my Oblivion saves and then return it for whatever they have on the shelves.
Kinda proves my point. Those who have had problems are far, far more likely to participate in a thread like this than the majority of us who have not had problems.
Y'all will bitch and moan, while most of us just enjoy our systems.

Then why the billion dollar write off?
I am not looking to trash 360s but I also want to be sure people know what they are getting into. I do not even game that much. Maybe a day a week on average.
Edit: Based on your history, you seem to be a thread sniper. I am done here.

What about the write off?
Seems to be selling just fine along with constant sales in software. What is your concern? They addressed the issue and pretty much we have moved on from it. They chose the route on how to work the issue and what happens when the issue comes up.
Pharcyde23 11-04-07, 02:49 PM I have 2 360's. One is in the bedroom, one in the livingroom. Both are second units as the originals got red lights. One was an exchange at best buy, the other a replacement from Microsoft.
I would recommend that whatever you buy to keep it properly vented. And if you're deciding between the 360 and the PS3 for gaming purposes, I got 2 words for you - Xbox Live.

Sales are not an issue in this thread.
I hope they resolved the issue. Are 100% of the units for sale the new design and has the new design proved reliable? The answer to both are no.
I certainly hope they have resolved the issue so my next one lasts. I also agree that Live is a great thing. I only really played 3 or 4 games on the original Xbox because Live greatly expanded the playability on good games.
Did MS make a mistake? Sure. They've addressed it. Why are you stuck on it? Why are you playing Chicken Little?
