My internet connection with my 360 works fine with Xbox Live. But when I load my Transformers DVD, my 360 hangs while it says it's updating web content. I had to unplug my network connection to get it to play the disc. Is this normal?

It isn't hanging I believe it takes awhile for the Transformer version to do the update. It was the longest out of the other disc I have. They only took 2 minutes compared to Transformers. It seemed like 10 minutes to do the update. How do you know it is hanging? Can you access the Guide menu and see your friends list?

It actually is somewhat normal, which is a good thing! Check out the HD-DVD Software sub-forum, there are a slew of threads about this.

It's your 360 downloading a sizable cookie. Some reported that it took them up to 10 minutes for it to download, and then they could play the movie without any issues. Others had problems later, etc.

When I booted up my 360 and put in Transformers, I just let it download for a good 5 minutes, and then it ran smoothly.

Most everyone was having this problem. When you play the disc for the first time, the web content downloads successfully. However, when putting the disc in for a second time, it will hang on that screen. The only way to get past this is to delete all the cookies from your hd-dvd drive, or unhook the network cable from the console and then boot it up.

Microsoft has already said they are aware of the problem, and are supposedly working on a patch to fix it.

It just seems stupid to have company over to show them how good an HD-DVD can look and have to wait ten minutes for the stupid thing to load extras I could care less about. Argh.

if you deny internet access for the ad on player it shouldnt take long at all. it wil see that you dotn ahve internet and bypass the update
