Ok, the best thing about HD-DVD so far are all the great catalog titles (BD has had some good ones too), well the Blu-Ray studios (Specificly FOX) need to get on this now!!! Its a pretty good deal that we are gonna get Con-Air (and of orse the Die Hards in time for Christmas; the best Cyhristmas movies ever) and what not somewhat Early next year, but I want my Cult classics. I mean come on most of the people buying into these two formats will purchase, BTILC, Space Balls, They Live(HD-DVD only), and so forth. We need niche titles, and need them now. anyways, post what you would like here are the BDR's I really want that are more niche:

Big Trouble in Little China
The Rocketer
KRULL :)
MirrorMask (I know this is pretty new, but her my Wife would luv it)
Masters of the Universe
Both Escape movies (I would expect them out by the time the NEw York Remake is made)

oh and please, PLEASE SONY hurry up with Buckaroo Bonsai (MGM)!!!!!

:D

Niche titles won't roll out until the format war is over. For now, day&date releases are where it's at for studios.

Wow! You mention some titles I seriously relate to :)! Still, I suspect the market for them is very much niche (my middle name) and so I wouldn't expect much emphasis on their roll out. I was pretty amazed at Warner's decision to release "Omega Man"!

I know it's a stretch, but I'd love to see Batman The Movie with Adam West released eventually. I own it on DVD but I'd buy it again in a second. It's always good for some laughs.

blu-ray catalog >>>>>>> hd-dvd catalog.. I find about 5 HD-DVD movies that I want vs. 100 Blu-Ray movies.

And yes, that's my opinion...since you posted your opinion...

While I would love to see this movie, I agree that it won't come out till the war is over.

I couldn't agree more. I own both BR and HD dvd and there only only 5-10 movies that are exclusive to hd dvd that I really think are good.

You guys are great. I get Krull, Batman (Adam West edition), Rocketeer, all in the same thread. I love you guys. Yes I would love to see them all released on Blu-ray. I would buy them all. The sad thing is it is not going to happen any time soon. Keep up the good work reminding me what we may get in the future.

/Blu-ray all the way!!! I never read the HD-DVD forums

Well, Big Trouble in Little China would be an immediate "must buy". Very entertaining and funny film; and it would likely look really good in Blu-ray.

Hi, since you seem like some sort of fan-boy and a generally uninformed person, I will give you a small list of the great catalog titles with AWESOME picture on HD-DVD:

Waterworld (although I know some people hate it its pretty niche IMHO and looks great)
The Last Starfighter (cant think of to many more niche movies out there)
Carlitos Way (got this yesterday, Awesome movie, awesome Picture quality)
Darkman (again, crazy niche movie, awesome in HD)
Dragon Heart
Big Labouski
Being John Malkovitch
Smokey and the Bandit
MysteryMEn, (not so good looking but better than DVD!)

This is what I am talking about, older more niche titles. I just dont see the same on Blu Ray, they have this awesome catalog that everyone always touts as the reason to go "Blu" and you would think that there would be a LOT more movies out there, especially from Fox :( . I will say though that there ar e a few nice titles out there but just not like what Universal has done on HD-DVD, they for whatever reason are bringing out these older, niche titles, I mean The Breakfast Club :D .

Anyways, here are some on Blu Ray that are out now that I think are worthy but they need to do more, and that is all this thread is about a wish for more niche gems that would be great on Blu Ray.

A Few Good Men
Flatliners
Dracula
Young Guns
.....this is all I can think of on Blu Ray, please if I am missing some here, let me know as I love niche movies, oh and Young Guns doesn't look all that good :(

They seem like a fan-boy? You do know it's the worst of the fanboys who leap to that accusation first, right? Someone disagrees with you about where they movies they prefer are, and you call them uninformed?

Wanna know who looks like an idiot to me? You get one guess, and it isn't Sassy girl.

I didn't see a point to it, the discussion was about Blu Ray, the only reason I mentioned HD is because they have released a lot of niche, older titles (that look good most of the time), whereas BR is more new blockbusters, I imagine it s a marketing thing, as newer titles usually appeal more but this was nothing more than a attempt to start discussion about what older niche titles people would like to see on BR. So if you don't having anything meaningful to add; ON TOPIC, please stay the Eff out dood!

Back on topic, two others I forgot are:

Boondock Saints (Awesome movie -Fox)

and This is Spinal Tap (It could always look better than the DVD!!! :p MGM)

and while we are at it, Strange Brew, thats a great movie and I'm pretty sure MGM!

Anchor Bay just released some great niche titles and Warner Brothers has several and more on the way. I just looked through my collection and the following seem like niche titles- Vertical Limit, Wildthings, Edward Scissorhands, King Of New York, Black Book and Oldboy. I agree HD-DVD has a better selection but Blu-Ray is catching up.

Though not really niche, or catalog, I do like the small amount of non hollywood movies available on the Sony Classic line on BD. Universal has been pretty good as well, but would like the see "The Shadow" be available. Where is Last Action Hero Sony?! The complete Carolco catalog please! Chaplin, LA STORY, the Doors, yes , including Cutthroat Island.

We got some zombie cult classics from Starz/Anchor Bay around Halloween.

Few others as well.

Though I agree there needs to be more from Fox.

Just not at Fox prices....

Boondock Saints is a MUST OWN.

Yeah Fox is absolutely nuts. It's almost a plus for HD-DVD not having them. I will spend the cash for Alien and Aliens though.

Except the bad thing about the Alien movies is that they will triple did on those! :(

Oh and although not really niche, Warner needs to bring Iron Giant to High Def!

ABSOLUTELY, YES! Iron Giant was a superb film!

As for BTILC, it's so qoutable.

(Jack points to Chinese sign on wall...)

"What does that say?"

"Hell of boiling oil."

"You're kidding me?!"

"Yes, I am. It says keep out."

Omega man is nothing more than primer for Warner to get some people updated with the book/screenplay before I am Legend hits the screens in Dec.

That movie should be good entertainment, even if it endes being as faithful to the book as I Robot, (Which is 0 just in case)

I mentioned the Anchor Bay titles in my post. I only have Dawn of the Dead out of the titles they released but still want to pick up Day of the Dead and Halloween when they have a sale. I read that Evil Dead 2 was pretty bad quality.
