Hi,

I know they make adapters for VHS-C tapes (looks like a VHS tape you put in VCR to transfer) but I am wondering if they make adapters for what I think is 8mm tapes? Rather than having to stream the video through my video camera into my computer with a "moviebox"? Any adapters like the VHS where you can stick the 8mm into the adapter and then the VCR?

No. You can do it with VHS-C because VHS-C has exactly the same type of video encoding. The converter just puts the VHS-C tape into a mechanical format that looks like VHS.

The encoding on the 8mm tape is not the same, (the tape itself isn't even the same width). It just won't work.

You need something like you are saying in your post. Alternatively, some MiniDV cams will take an analog input and pass it through. This is how I intend to convert my old Hi8 stuff... (when I get around to it!!!)
