I just bought my first HDTV (Panasonic TH-50PZ77U) and was thinking about buying GetGray's calibration disc. How does this compare to Avia or DVE? Right now the TV is playing the break-in DVD with all the settings on 0.

There are no instructions on the disc though so you'd better know what to do beforehand.

For grayscale calibration ... a snap. So easy to jump between patterns ... when I want the before and after grayscale ramps, the chapters are at my finger tips.

It's set up like that ... to be easy for people that actually calibrate sets. :D

If you know what you want ... you can move through this disc much faster than the AVIA or DVE. Those discs have more patterns though ... for other tests well outside the realm of typical calibration.

c-not-k provided the link to the "manual"/instructions. The GetGray disc is easier to use than AVIA and DVE (the hardest to use). Their manuals are difficult to read and they are multi-purpose tools. The GetGray disc is an accurate tool for one purpose only - to calibrate fixed pixel displays (plasma, LCD, DLP, Lcos, etc. - projectors or flat panels).

I liked it so much, that I volunteered to write the instructions. And, yes, I'm biased :D.

I'll give my two cents (which is finally worth more that two US cents :) ).

As a long time Avia user I never use it now that I have get grey. Much simpler to use.

Getgray worths the $25 for video calibration. I had have 3 basic calibration disks before and they are all trash comparing to Getgray's nagivation. 100 times easier to use with getgray :)
