Hey guys just a real quick question i have an old 27 inch tv that is being placed in a loft in our new house and was wondering if all it has for input is a coaxial plug can i hook a dvd player up to it? it does have two rca plugs but i believe these are for audio only not video. thanks for the help in advance.

That doesn't make sense since if its off the coax it has audio input there on the rf source. Probably one of the RCAs is for composite video and one for mono sound; normal dvd player outputs

Not quite "normal", but you are correct to a point.

Check the colors of the RCA inputs of the TV. One is probably yellow (video) and one white (audio).

Two get both left and right channels from the DVD player, you will need a "Y" adapter from the audio outputs (red and white) of the DVD player to the single audio input of the TV. I'm not aware of any DVD players that allow you to set one output to "mono".

Be a shame to only hear half of the soundtrack. ;)

Using a "Y" adapter (assuming the TV's inputs are yellow/white), would be the less expensive and probably better option.

A careful examination of the back panel will be the answer. ;)

Outputs or inputs?
Note the color codes.

We can go from there...

When TV only have 2 commposites its often a mono A/V in.
