View Full Version : New TV - Best Calibration Method? Michael TLV 11-06-07, 12:54 PM Greetings A good professional would get it as best as possible. :) If not that ... then I guess you don't really want it as best as possible ... :D Or for little or no money? A test disc ... AVIA I or II ... DVE ... Getgray ... DVE HD ... Monster ISF ... or the free one ... the THX optimizer on any THX dvd. regards D-6500 11-06-07, 01:46 PM Greetings A good professional would get it as best as possible. :) If not that ... then I guess you don't really want it as best as possible ... :D Or for little or no money? At least with the DVDs you mentioned, at bare minimum he would be saving his set from the permanent damage the factory settings will likely cause. At best, the set would be far more watchable than it probably is out-of-box. alluringreality 11-06-07, 01:53 PM For a few hundred dollars a traveling calibrator would probably give you the best calibration without having to learn anything, but in the rear projection area there's probably a thread on your TV where settings are discussed. Jabba_The_LCD 11-08-07, 02:55 PM I'd suggest Avia II. I've read alot of good things about it when I was reaseaching for a calibration disc. They only have the DVD currently. Talk of HD and Blu-Ray are coming Dec. 2007 or 1Qtr. 2008. The Avia II is new for 2007, it's NTSC, and will calibrate (help you calibrate) both video and audio. :) I haven't used Digital Vid. Ess. (DTE) but it is older and I hear the menus are somewhat hard to navigate. I personally do not know. Good luck. |
