Hello,

I have a Pioneer 42" (PDP-4270) plasma and I've noticed that the right and left sides are a bit brighter than the middle. It's more noticeable when there is a bright backround or watching hockey.

The plasma was purchased in June of 2007

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this...

Well you can start but stretching all your SD content to fit the screen. I'd keep it that way for a week or so and see if it doesn't fade. I doubt you have actual burn in but you may have a serious case of IR.

I have the same problem when watching hockey (PRO-940HD). Maybe you watch to much 4:3 content? On the other hand, I ALWAYS strech the 4:3 content to full screen. I found this weird.

Did you try JScreenFix (http://www.jscreenfix.com/)? You must connect a computer to the TV and then run this little program. It's like if each pixel is flashing with different color at the same time. I try it for about 20 minutes. I'll do it again when I'll have the time

Thank you

Thanks. It's extrememly annoying especially watching Hockey.
If that doesn't work can Pioneer fit it?
Thanks again

If you dont start stretching your content you may cause permanent issues with the set. Depending on how bad it is, some stretched content for a period of time may fix the problem.

Oh yeah and you can't fix aged phosphors you just age the others (aka the part in the black bars) to even it out

The computer is not in the same room. I think my wife watches her junk tv show in 4:3. I already told her to never do that again and to widen the screen in neeb be.

the ghosting looks like it corresponds to my cox cable channel guide.
Im guessing this is image retention and might fade over time?
Do i need to run a burn in disc or just keep it on 'full' and let it fade?
