I'm somewhat tech-savvy, but I'm just getting familiar with HDTVs.

I recently purchased a Panasonic 42" TH-42PX77U. I want to get ready for when it comes, so can anyone help me with the break-in period? What's the best way to break-in the TV? I've heard that there's a break-in DVD somewhere on the site? How can I find it and can I leave the DVD running overnight?

Also, I've heard mention of having to calibrate the TV. How can I do that? I've heard of something called DVE. Any idea how to get it?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance. :D

There are now a few DVD and Blu-Ray test disc you can buy that will help, but I would get it professionally calibrated.

They also have this on HD-DVD and DVD... But nothing beats a professional job when it comes to calibrating these sets!!!

This question is asked and answered several times a day - check the PX75U thread . . . :)

Break in isn't required. If anything just turn the stock picture settings down as they are turned way up from the factory and avoid letterboxed content or sidebars for the first hundred hours.

Basically break in is a thing of the past.
