hi everyone,

got the new firmware the other night and proceeded to play gran turismo 4, but now the video seems like it's over-stretched horizontally. everything looked fine before the update, now it is jaggy looking and a hint chubbier. all my previous settings are the same as before the update. the ps3 is set to "full screen" + "smoothing" for ps2 games and in GT4 i have it set to 16:9/1080. i'm using a sony 40v2500 via hdmi. things were looking sweet before this damn update, now WTH?!?!? i had to play some GT5prologue just to feel better. :(

I'm having the same problem too. The issue is that the PS3 now stretches all the way to the edges of the screen horizontally, but leaves space on the top and bottom of the screen, so the image is stretched. The upscaling method looks a lot worse as well (I thought pixel flipping had returned for a second)

Right now plain un-upscaled looks best on my display since the update broke things...

yeah, 4:3 looks fine. but that's crappy to have to play like that. i also forgot to mention that the video was cutting out during the game as well. i rebooted and had no problems, but didn't play more than 20 minutes to see if it'd happen again.

I have the same issue with my PS3 (60GB), 2.0, GT4 and Hitachi 1080i TV.

I have always turned the upconverting off on the PS2 games when playing GT4. How does that work? Ever since I got the GT5 demo, I haven't played GT4 at all.

It worked great with GT4 before firmware 2.00 with upscaling set to Full Screen in PS3 Game Options. I was able to choose 16x9 and HDTV 1080i in GT4 Options. Video looked great.

After 2.0 16x9 and HDTV 1080i mode zooms in, another words GT4 is screwed up. The game still plays on my PS3 (60GB).

After updated to 2.0 and I played Final Fantasy XII in 16x9 mode and use PS3 upscale to full screen, I immediately noticed something wrong with the picture: While there were some black borders on the left and right before 2.0 update, it has no black bars now (TV has no overscan). However, I notice some bad upscaling artifacts due to this 2.0 new improper (or cheap) upscaling method. It did not happen prior to 2.0 and I prefer the old method with a clean and smooth upscaling. Notice how the "Y" and "X" in the first pic and all the "O" in the 2nd picture. This is quite annoying as the entire picture is affected. Anyone noticed this?

glad (or sad, actually) it's not just me. i tried everything. most people have recommended to turn scaling to "off" or "normal" and have the TV do the fullscreen upscale, but the artifacts are still there and it's definitely not an improvement. even in 4:3 you can tell something is wrong. on fast scenes you can tell there is a boxy mesh over the screen, and of course text looks terrible.

i am really sick of trolls calling us people with VALID problems trolls. WTF?!?! if you were on our side of the fence you would be @#$% pissed too! they are all probably plants from sony, paid to drink the kool aid.

and for the record, I HATE MY 3fixme!!!!! oh, and i don't think i ever mentioned i have a 1 month old US 60g
