Hi all. I'm considering getting some sort of HD media player (either BRD or HDDVD) and am looking very closely at getting a PS3. Given current HD DVD prices, they're looking very appealing, but if I can get a PS3 and replace my aging HTPC as well, it makes it more than worth the added expense. Currently I use the HTPC to store and upscale DVDs (in .iso format), listen to MP3s stored on my NAS (which has a built in uPnP server if necessary) and occasionally surf the net or watch other misc video from time to time (stuff I take with my digital camera and the like) and that's about it. I don't game on it or anything like that, it's just there for watching movies and listening to music. I have a few external HDDs I could dedicate to the cause, so storage isn't an issue. What I'm wondering is, can the PS3 play media off of the NAS and an external HDD, and if it can, what formats does it support and what are the limitations? I've heard from old posts that it doesn't support 5.1 audio, and I've heard that it doesn't support NTFS. Have these issues been addressed via any of the firmware updates? Any insights would be great. Thanks!
