Have there been any strides to getting the Windows Media Center to display and function on the PS3? This would be a great solution if the PSP cold control the GUI.

Not sure how or why anyone would spend time on this. At best you could say that XP's Media Center and the PS3's XMB are competing to be THE entertainment interface of choice. Likewise, the 360 wants to be the solution. Each has a slightly different target audience, with their own pros and cons. Either way, you have to choose which machine do you want to leave on as the focal point for viewing/listening to your stuff.

It would be counter-intuitive (but not improbable) to use a PSP to control a PS3 that controls a Vista/XP machine.

Windows media connect(using Windows Media Player 11) works not Windows Media Center.

Trust me. With the application that I have for it, it's NOT counter-intuitive. As a developer, we already have some special applications that utilize the Windows Vista Media Center and it would be great if we could get the PSP to remotely control the media center via IP.

Yes. I am familiar with this as I am doing it now. I can access all of my photos and audio and only SOME of my videos (depending on their format). However, I've got cable cards that are recognized by the Windows Media Center that I need access to via a WiFi remote (such as the PSP).

So basically, I need a PSP to control the PS3 that displays the Windows Media Center that is the hub of all media for our infrastructure (including multiple cable cards).

Having access to photos, audio and some stored videos is nice, but it's no Windows Media Center.

Your best hope would probably be a vnc type of application for the ps3. There is a web based vnc app, but it probably doesn't work with the ps3's browser - if the ps3 ever gets a full fledged browser with full java/flash/activex compatibility, it'd be fully possible to use the psp to control anything on a PC using vnc. Good luck with that, though.

IMHO I think recording High Def programs off of an HD cable tuner (like ATI) and then streaming it to your TV with Windows Media Center is the only reason I'd ever consider getting an X360 console. Imagine recording your HD shows and viewing them in the living room using your PS3 via WiFi.

:::sheds a tear thinking of the possibility:::

Yeah, and I working with one of three dealers in the US that has a license to build three cable cards into one system.

You were bound to get one of these. I use my 360 to get at my MCE but think it would be great to be able to do PSP remote control of it via the PS3.

I bought a PSP and have remote access to the PS3 now and, ultimately, the windows media server content. However, the Windows Media Center is still not there, which could be what is required. This, likey, will never happen.
