It does, the smaller discs than the normal 700mb. Although not MD. the Mini Disc format!

One problem I found was that if a disc has metal only in the center but clear (glass/plastic) material for the rest of disc surface, the PS3 does not take it in.

I chanced upon this when trying to insert a single. Anyone know a way around this?

What kind of cds have metal only in the middle? If does I don't think its compatible with the ps3 so I wouldn't use it

Same here, only play portable recorder broke. Have to search eBay for a new one, or send it for repairs to Sony

I do as well. Best format ever.

Btw, the PS3 will play the files on your MD, once you extract them with SonicStage. Just change the file extension from .oma to .aa3, and the PS3 will recognize them.

Looking back I think MD was just a big waste of money for me! Kinda an ill-concieved format if you ask me........

MiniDisc was a great idea I think. But they just didn't market it well enough in the US. I recall walmart had the players and blank media for a short while but they were in the very bottom left cornner of the CD players. As I recall theye had just started selling MP3 player. The first MP3 player I got was a creative 20GB on clearence for $50 buck. It had a black and white dot LCD display and looked like a CD player. it worked pretty well. Later I got the 60GB ipod. Id like the 120 at some point as well.

I also recall bestbuy had a small 4ft section of MD music. I thought about getting one after seeing a ozzy MD.
I never did..?

I use mine to boot concerts and to record my bands practices. I loved minidisc, but am going to change soon. It was great format when it was released. It was lot cheaper and smaller then dat and better sounding then cassette. I am looking at the zoom h2 or h4 as a replacement.
One , drag and drop transfer.
Two 24 bit 96 k support on a compact flash card.
