I am looking to purchase either the Panasonic AX200 or Samsung Z2000. I have read both user reviews and professional reviews on the projector websites. But I am still struggling on deciding which projector to purchase.

I am planning to use the projector in a dedicated home theater room which the light is controlled. The projector will be 10feet from the screen and the screen size is 92”. I am also planning to use the projector for SD Dish, SD DVD, XBOX360 gaming and occasional HD DVD. Because the projector will be used with a lot of SD content, I am planning to purchase a video scalar such as a VP50.

Based on what I have read, the Samsung Z2000 seems to be the overall better performer compared to the Panasonic AX200 except for brightness. I value brightness very high. Even though I can control the light in the room, I like to view the TV with little ambient light.

I am basically struggling with the brightness ratings of the Samsung Z2000 compared to the Panasonic AX200.

Based on my set up, will I find the Samsung Z2000 plenty bright in very little ambient light? Or will a good video scalar such as a VP50 compensate for the performance deficiencies of the Panasonic AX200 compared to the Samsung Z2000 in terms of sharpness, noise level, and SD watchability?

I dont have a Z2000 but I do have a Z5 and I watch the football games on Sundays with no problem, my Z5 is in my living room so I get a good amount of ambient light - I just put the PJ in a mode that gives you more lumens - like Vivid or Living or Dynamic mode.

Thanks for the help. In the Living or Dynamic modes do you think the picture quality decrease is acceptable?
