1. I'm looking to purchase a new HDMI Receiver (Onkyo 875 ??) and HDDVD player (A2 ??) to match up with my HD1000. The receiver will need to have 2 HDMI in (DVD player and cable). Any suggestions ?? I'm not clear on how good the scallers etc. in the PJ are. I've had my HD1000 for 9 months and love it.
2. Where to buy a replacement Bulb ???
3. Considering DTV but cannot get locals stations HD and the DTV receiver they offer (HR21) will not accept an OTA antenna ??? Will have to stay with Comcast unless someone has another suggestion.

Also take a look at the Sony STR-DG910. It has 3 HDMI inputs, which opens up opportunity for future expansion beyond the HD-DVD player and cable box. I've been very pleased with mine so far (had it about 2 months). There is a thread dedicated to this receiver in the Amps/Receivers/Processors audio forum.

If you need 3 HDMI inputs, the Onkyo TX-SR705 has that. The benefit of the Onkyo receivers is that they handle the HD audio formats over the HDMI connections.

Did you check Dish Network?

I attended the Audioholics get together in Clearwater. Clearly, the best sounding room was the one that had a Yamaha receiver (rx-Z11) as its processor & amplification. It was heads and heels better then any of the other rooms including one filled with B&W speakers and set up by Dolby Labs, IMHO. The processing used by the Z11 was Yamaha's own proprietary movie sound-field - not DD or PLIIx!

While you may not have the funds for a Z11, the RX-V2700 or RX-V3800 will get you almost there power wise and features. Put them on your list and try to get a good demo, pretty incredible.

By the way, can't you get the locals in Hi Def with a good old antenna? Most can with the right one. Its free...

That's what OTA means... over the air.

How does Dish compare with DTV ??? PQ wise ????? and # of HD stations ??DTV is slightly ahead in total number of National HD channels currently until Dish gets their newest sats launched, but most of those new channels are stretched, upconverted, or rerun channels with copious commercials. Now that both sat companies have started the move to MPEG4, PQ looks very good. Just like DTV, Dish also may not have your locals in HD, you need to take a look over at dishnetwork.com and see what they say about your location. I am in Northern VA and get all the DC channels in HD and use the OTA connection to get them again in HD, which has some excellent PQ depending on the programming. SNF looks great! Dish does not have the Sunday Ticket which is exclusive to DTV. New Dish customers are getting the latest HD DVR for free, 6 months of HD for free, one of the premiums has a 3 month free preview going, and installation included in that. You will probably need two dishes though. I have one for 110/119 and one for 61.5.

You mean, the Onkyo can decode them if sent as Bitstream?
The STR-DG910 cannot do that. But it can accept the HD audio formats, provided the player decodes them and sends as PCM.

Yes, you have to decide which you would rather have doing the decoding. I prefer the receiver.
