Hey guys... just made the jump late last night! I have both the PS3 and 360 now and will primarily use the PS3 as a BD player but will get the top tier game titles for it.

Haven't had a chance to set her up yet but will do it later today.

A few questions...

1) do i have to update the f/w or it should be the latest?
2) thinking about getting the onkyo sr-605 or 705 receiver... anyone have this combo? good?

I just bought a 40gig unit on Saturday. You can't do much with it (anything online) until you update to 2.0.

The download took all of about 5 minutes.

congrats, I have both systems myself. I am looking hard at the Onkyo 705 go for the better plus more inputs and THX select! I too use it as a Blu-ray player more than games, although I will get exclusive titles, I am loving the demo for drakes fortune, it looks gorgeous!! very fun game. :). Format neutral is the why to go why fight about and say one is better, I love HD period and movies so why not get both and you are covered by all movies released in Hi-Def!!!;)

I do not think the firmware will be the latest, since it was just relased the other day. You will need to update you PS3 to the latest firmware, which is currently 2.0.

2) thinking about getting the onkyo sr-605 or 705 receiver... anyone have this combo? good?
I have not used either of these but someday possibly planning on upgrading my current Onkyo receiver to one of these. They both support HDMI and next gen audio such as TrueHD and DTS-MA (whenever PS3 supports it)

fwiw, i also love HD movies and am neutral (have an A3 player)... HD movies are sooo amazing!

hoping to hear more success stories with the ps3 and some receivers from all of you!
