Greetings. I did a search to no avail.
I have a JVC 52 inch DLP that is about 2 years old. After about the 1st year I lost the color blue, after about 1.5 years I lost blue and green. I have had 2 repair people out and they both said it would require a 900 dollar part. The TV was not even twice that new.
The TV was bought, put on my TV stand and hasnt moved since so its not like its been bashed around.
I have a problem putting 900 dollars into something that isn't worth that.
What are my options? Is this a common problem with JVC?
Thanks for anyones input...

To the best of my knowledge JVC never made a dlp rear projection tv, perhaps yours is an LCOS or crt model. I suspect from the price you report paying that yours is a crt based set. JVC quit making crt based rptvs a couple or three years ago, and the last ones they made were quite problem prone.

Ahhh. Perhaps.
I wasnt sure the exact specifications. I just bought one that looked decent and had a decent price. Its not real deep like my old Rear projection.

That is the one I have. It looks kind of like this. I though it was a DLP because the sales guy (could be a moron) bragged that it had 2 DLP chips in it.
Either way. What a POS. Any ideas what I should do with it? Its only 2 years old. Its hard to beleive a company can stay in business with this kind of quailty. I doubt the garbage men would take it.

Can you post up the exact model number please?
All displays can have issues. All companies experiencing similar failure rates, you were just un lucky enough to have it happen to you this time.

Not one of their better efforts it would seem.
It is LCOS or IDLA or SXRD if you will not DLP. It has three LCOS chips to form images, one for Red, Green, and Blue.
Bummer, I guess it made it through the warranty period for you?

Thanks for the education.
Thats really too bad. My 20 year old mitsubishi CRT is still kicking. Seems like a company as big as JVC would wait until they had perfected the technology.
Oh well. Live and learn.

Well, some models from Sony, or Mitsubishi, or you name it can have not so great products they come out with as well.
I doubt we will see many 20 year displays from here on out in all honesty. :)
But in general, your set failed out of warranty. It happens.

Yeah. I know stuff like this happens. I would be cool with it, but they didnt make it very serviceable.
Oh well... Thanks for the help.

I have the same type of tv only a little bigger HD-70FH97, it looks the same as your set only bigger and is a locos...
i had it for a year now and noticed the color was slowly fading and i had a grey area the size of a softball starting to form on the screen and i thought maybe it was dusty on the inside of the screen...
I was 100% right , just last night i decided to open it up and i found the inside to be quite dusty indeed, especially the dust on the glass dome where the picture is actually projected from...
I cleaned the inside of the unit and the lens using special cleaner and lint free wipes i bought for cleaning the screen and put it back together , when i turned on the tv i was amazed like the day i bought it, the colors were as vibrant as day one and the clarity is amazing once again...
it was not hard to do and if you are not scared to open it up and think you are able to do it i will help ya out as much as i can and can even post the pics i took of it all apart...
it was quite easy to do and NOT as high tech as people might think and I can not tell you in works just how much my colors are back and how pleased my wife and i are

Thanks for the reply. I wish that was my problem. The colors were there one day and gone the next.
