I bought a few movies from Walmart when they had the 3 day sale. I went back to Walmart last night and asked if they still had the $15 display of movies, an employee said that they (I'm assuming the Toshiba vendor) came in after the sale and took back the display. My question is why wouldn't they just take the movies not sold and put them in regular stock even if they were sold at normal price? I would think that it would be better to have a bigger selection of movies even though the sale was over.

It probably depends on the store. I've been to 3 diff WM's and they all had the sale HD DVD's put in with the rest of the HD DVD's and were still priced at $14.96.

95% chance the walmart employee had no idea what you were talking about.

One of the Wal-Marts I went to placed the few unsold HD DVD movies (six copies of Sleepy Hallow) in with the normal priced HD/BD movies.

I would say 99.9%. Even the day of the "secret sale" I went to two Wally World super centers and they did not know about them. I also checked with some friends and family that work at Wally world that told me they did not have a clue that the sale happened, especially on the HD-DVD's since they were not marked, just discounted through the computers.

My Wally World still has 3 or 4 different movies priced at 15 bux. I have one more that I need to buy and I think its Sleepy Hollow. What all movies did they have for 15? I got Four brothers and The Big Lebowski.

I was told that the selection of "**** movies" had no room at the Walmart display area and had no bins for it.

Swordfish
Alexander: Director's Cut
Full Metal Jacket: Director's Cut
Sleepy Hollow and Failiure to Launch where all sent back at the Springfield MA Walmart.

The Chicopee Walmart kept the movies they had left over but bumped the brice up 4 bucks.

Was just at my Walmart last night, and they still have the big red display, so Toshiba did not pickup their display from my walmart, however they turned it around and have another display in front of it so its very hard to even see it now. What I keep wondering is, howcome if Walmart is making this big HD DVD push, we dont see at least an even selection of titles? Blu-ray has 5 rows to HD DVD's 3 rows and you'd think they'd have the bigger selection or at least a 50/50 selection for HD DVD rather than the smaller amount.

at my WM, HD DVD has the big display full and 3 column on an end cap. BD had 4 columns on the end cap and nothing more. I'm assuming it varies store to store as I've seen differences in numbers of DVD's sold based on the store I'm in.

That's how it is here, near Raleigh, NC.

But none of the HD-DVD's have a price posted anywhere.

I find that hard to believe, since I just saw the newest Walmart commercial for HDM (both HD DVD and BR) versions of Ocean's 13.

The kid is jonesing for a copy of Ocean's 13 in HD. Nothing else advertised in the commercial. I was pretty surprised when I saw it.

I went in to Walmart the day after the sale and tried to get Blood Diamond for $15 and the price was up to $19.

Found a WalMart with stock last night. Lucky # Slevin, Clerks, and Italian Job were all still 14.98. The remastered FMJ was 18.98. I went ahead and got them all anyway. Just a month agao I was gushing over the Circuit City BOGO deal. This is essentially the same cost.

I am not sure WM is making an HD DVD push. They seem to have pretty even amounts of movies and the players have all disappeared at my local WMs.

WM also had tvs and computers on sale that day as well. Was WM pushing those brands over the other ones or were they just offering up deals on items that would get people into their store?

I am all for picking up a $99 player so I can get the Bourne series and BG set but I am batting zero here in So Cal.

The local wall just mixed the left over discs in with the regular discs. They all went to $18.96.

I checked my Walmart last night -- the only one, locally, selling the $98 A2 and they only had movies for $29. That's a lot of money for a movie, IMO. I know they're better...but damn.

I know. My local Walmart just started carrying HD and Blu-ray a few weeks ago (in a semi rural area about 50 miles from St. Louis.) I was happy at first, and I want to support them, but they didn't have any of the $15 sale discs that I could find. And the only movies they have I want are $29, which would be about $31 after tax. I am not going to pay $30 for a movie, except for a few favorites. But sure as heck am not going to casually pick up a movie that looks like it might be good at that price. Meanwhile the Blu-rays of the same titles are $5.00 cheaper than the HD combos, which I don't want or need.
