I have a philosophical question:

I understand why you would want to put the equipment rack in a room other than the theater. But does it make sense to then install the transport devices such as disc player , in the theater or in the rack. I see advantages of both methods.

As I see it, the advantage of putting the transport in the rack is that it simplifies the install and leaves the theater much cleaner looking. However, it is a PITA to have to leave the room to put a disc in. Granted for CDs there are large jukeboxes, however these do not exist fot any of the high-def formats.

I think I am leaning towards, the equipment room in the basement, and an HDMI cable and IR emitter run up to the theater, that leaves just the high-def disc player in the theater along with the media library.

Any thoughts?

Well Sony maked a changer for Blu but if you wanna do HD-DVD you are gonna have to wait for Toshiba to step up to the plate:

Is there a nondescript place within your theater that you could place the HD disc player? I know it would mean a seperate cable run, and not knowing your theater it may not be feasible.

I've seen some great theaters where there was some sort of player available under a bar, in an endtable, etc.

Good luck!
