I just purchased a Sony KDS55A3000 TV. I have my PS3, Satellite and DVD Player hooked up directly to the TV via HDMI cables. I also have optical cables going from each device into my Onkyo TXSR-604. My TV has an optical out jack on it and I am wondering if I will lose any sound quality if I disconnect all of the individual optical cables from the above mentioned devices, let the HDMI cables carry the audio to the TV and then just run one optical cable from the output on the tv into the back of the reveiver. What do you guys think?

The optical out on the TV is for the built-in ASTC tuner, not for inputs fed into it. Just keep the system you already have.

I recently saw an example of a Toshiba TV that WOULD pass the 5.1 audio properly, so you can at least give it a try, but most TVs will only pass-through 5.1 audio as a 2-channel downmix via their optical output.
